Just read the names. Sunblock will BLOCK the sun and sunscreen will SREEN some of the UV rays but not all. Sunblock is a better choice for your skin since it has more protection.

I think people use the two terms interchangeably, but they are different...

In short, sunblock prevents the UVA and UVB from coming into contact with the skin... these used to be the colored paste you saw on kids cheeks about 10 years ago... but these days, it's less greasy and clear - more like a lotion, but still not quite.

Sunscreen is what most of us use, because it's easier to rub in - it's a lotion. It still prevents any UVA or UVB rays from getting to our skin, but it does so by ABSORBING them into the lotion.

BOTH PREVENT TANNING if the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) is high enough... lower spf will be less effective, and a lower SPF will allow you to tan. But a sunscreen with SPF 50 and a sunblock with SPF 50 will both keep your skin from any tanning or burning at all.

Only recently have "breathable" sunblocks been coming onto the market.

Sunblock and Sunscreen are the same thing, the lotion or spray or creme you apply to the body to protect you from the sun, the one that is different is the Suntan which is the lotion that you apply to the body to achieve certain tanning.
EDIT:
I JUST RESEARCHED FOR YOU , HOPE THIS HELPS
Sunscreen (also known as sunblock, suntan lotion) is a lotion, spray or other topical product that helps protect the skin from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and which reduces sunburn and other skin damage, with the goal lowering your risk of skin cancer. However in the United States, the term suntan lotion usually means the opposite of sunscreen, and instead refers to lotion designed to moisturize and maximize UV exposure and tanning rather than block it. These are commonly called indoor tanning lotions when designed for use with tanning beds or just suntan lotion if designed for outdoor use and may or may not have SPF protection in them.

The most effective sunscreens protect against both UVB (ultraviolet radiation with wavelength between 290 and 320 nanometres), which can cause sunburn, and UVA (between 320 and 400 nanometres), which damages the skin with more long-term effects, such as premature skin aging. Most sunscreens work by containing either an organic chemical compound that absorbs ultraviolet light (such as oxybenzone) or an opaque material that reflects light (such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide), or a combination of both. Typically, absorptive materials are referred to as chemical blocks, whereas opaque materials are mineral or physical blocks.

SUNBLOCK and SUNSCREEN and SUN LOTION are the same thing and companies choose to call their products differently to sound better
The thing to look for is the SPF rating on the bottle the higher the number the more protection it gives and if it will stay on in water etc

extra often than no longer, Sunscreen is obvious and Sunblock is opaque (classically zinc oxide based cream). those are non-scientific words (i.e. merchandising words) and you ought to look on the SPF score to understand the way useful an ointment is able to sparkling out volatile UVA and UVB radiation.

sunblock completely blocks the sun its factor 100 whereas sunscreen does let some of the rays through

you also have to look at whether it blocks both uva and uvb cos uva gives you the colour but the uvb can give you cancer

In all actuality, the applying of chemicals to your skin raises the possibility of skin cancer, due to the fact that heat expands the skin, opening the pores and allowing the chemicals to enter the body and blood stream.. just like any other chemical such as the drug LSD.

sunBLOCK blocks the sun, sunSCREEN screens you from the sun. block is better. it blocks out ALL sun rays (or most of them) and usually stays on longer. but that doesn't mean you don't have to reapply. reapplying is the key to not getting burnt.
