Considering the question, I think you better let someone else do it for you! Shut it off before you do anything stupid.

While there are many things you can do in life that do not make sense, this has to be in the top ten. You want to try to change a belt on a moving pulley? Do you want to lose parts of your body (fingers, hand, arm)?

The answer to your question is there is no way to do that safely. It would be like trying to change a tire on a moving car! Even the NASCAR pit crews can not do that!!

This has to be a joke right? No, you cannot change the belt or belts with the engine running on the car that you will be working on.

Looking to lose some fingers?

I have never known a mechanic to change a belt with the engine running. There may be a way to do it but it may not be the safest way to do it.

Go ahead, you don't need your fingers, anyway.

When I was in auto shop in high school, 30 years ago - a guy was working on his 1968 Bronco and one of his hands got pulled through either the alternator pulley or the water pump pulley. It was one of the worst things I've ever seen. His hand was permanently messed up.

Only if your arms and fingers are faster than a speeding bullet, much faster. But then again forget it, with a question like this, without a doubt the brain is too slow to really work fast hands
