You should read the letters to the Corinthians written by the Apostle Paul. A few scriptures concerning sex before marriage are below - it is called fornication...

I Corinthians 6:13, I Corinthians 10:8, and I Corinthians 6:9 and 10. Other scriptures include the words of Christ found in Mark 7:21, also Romans 1:29, Galatians 5:19, Ephesians 5:3, Colossians 3:5 and 6, and Jude - verse 7.

I hope this helps.

Let's look at this in the light of the Two Great Commandments:

To love God with your whole being, and your neighbor as yourself.

Sex outside of marriage is a selfish act. For the man, he puts the woman at risk physically, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually. What if she got pregnant? Where is the commitment?

And what of STD's? Is it a loving thing to risk spreading disease or to risk getting such a disease?

The sad thing is that when a person is young, and still immature in many respects, they can make poor decisions that can adversely affect the rest of their lives.

I've seen it played out over and over. The same women who thought it was ok to live life loose and free end up suffering. And if they have daughters, they try desperately to tell them not to do what they did, only to watch them go about making the same choices, with the same results as the mother.

When two are intimate, they become one flesh; a new unit. Break that unit, and the very core of mankind suffers.

But wisdom is ignored. She cries out in the streets, but no one answers. People prefer to indulge their own desires, believing there will be no price to pay.

It is said to here this.

The Bible calls this fornication and indeed it is bad.

Here is what the Bible has to say:

Ephesians 5:2-4

2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Colossians 3:4-6

4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

Think about things - the only good thing that comes out of fornication is the pleasure other than that there is nothing else but people abusing others - people getting hurt - ADS and other sicknesses - Children without mom's or dad's.

Do you really think these situations pleases God?

Sex before marriage never had anything to do with religion. It's an economic thing. Fathers (and villages) could get more money from the groom or his family if their daughters were virgins. The only thing that comes close to the religious value of virginity is the offering of a virgin as a sacrifice to a pagan god, but again, the idea was that the sacrifice's virginity would have brought more money to the village if she (or he) had been sold instead, hence the "sacrifice".

Now days, it's mostly tradition to value virginity.

However, as a practical matter, sex leads to babies, and the baby's future is more assured if mom and dad had made some permanent commitment to each other BEFORE starting the baby-making process, whether babies were the intended result or not.

So because its not in the ten commandments its allowed?

So I guess rape is alright. Because the Lord doesnt specifically command against it in the ten commandments?

The issue is a respect of life. Do you respect life? you cant if you are playing russian roulette with your body. Sex is a sacred act because it is the act of creation. Its a holy sacrament because its the one time men and women can become most like God. Its also a symbol of complete union.

But above all when you use someone elses body for your own selfish reasons, you are messing with two souls. yours and theirs and when you mess with someones soul you mock the Atonement of Jesus Christ. And that is like playing with fire.

It specifically mentions Sexual immorality in I Corinthians 6:12-20.

I Corinthians 6:15: Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!

I Corinthians 6:20: You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Edit: Pssh! go ahead and give me thumbs-downs for actually answering the question, "where does it say in the Bible that you shouldn't and what did Jesus say about it?"

I guess it's not the answer people want to hear.

The issue is far deeper than can be seen at first thought and precipitates some life altering ramifications. If you do not understand this, then wait until you do. The act can corner you into a very superficial, shallow, and painful relationship, which at length needs to be terminated.

well, i'm not a believer at the time, but it makes sense why. if you do it before marriage, your 'boyfriend' may just leave you. He doesn't have any contract that he should support with you(or your baby), therefore it is very easy for him to step out. Let;s just say, it's less responsability for him and more for you. Once in a marriage, you both share the same responsability

somehow this part of the practice got forgotten:

Protestants used to "forbid" sex before marriage. However, if a couple was intending to get married (i.e. engaged) and they had sex there wasn't so much of a problem. What they were more focused on, really, was the idea of adultery, or sex with the person you're not married (or intended) to.
