Assallam mu alaikom warah matullah hi ta'ala wabarakatuh. Alhamdulillah. U are a Muslim. It is very easy to learn and do the prayer. Yes. Of course b4 U do your prayer, U need to wash yourself -Wuthu' -with water or Tayamum - with fine surface of desert sand or any of its kind ( provided there is no water available or limited, otherwise U need to use water from pond, river or sea if available). Perform your prayer five times a day ( Please get a Muslim friend to demonstrate the sequence of performing the prayer). It is an advantage if U know the direction towards Mecca, However, if U do not know, U can still perform your prayer just following your instinct - the actual kiblat is your heart, doesn't matter where U face, if U do not know, But if U know the direction, U have to face to the direction. U do not have to know Arabic language, as long as U know the surah (Al Quran) and able to recite Fatihah - Alhamdulila hi rab bil aalamin till the end, U can perform your prayer. However, it is an advantage if U could speak and understand Arabic Language. Wabillah hi taufik wal hidayat. Wassallam mu alaikom warah matullah hi ta'ala wabarakatuh.

5 times in the day and night: There is a Dawn Prayer, Noon-Prayer, mid-afternoon prayer, sunset prayer, nightfall Prayer.
Each prayer contains integrals. It starts with the opening saying of "Allaahu akbar". Then we recite a verse from the Qur'aan called alFaatiHah. There is a bowing and then straughtening up. Then prostration on the floor, sitting between the two prostrations, prostrating again, and staying motionless at each position for at least the duration of saying the word "subHaanallaah". This is one cycle for a Prayer.
The Dawn Prayer is 2 cycles, noon Prayer & mid-afternoon Prayer and Nightfall Prayer are 4 cycles each. Sunset Prayer is 3 cycles.
The Prayer is concluded by sitting after the 2nd prostration of the last cycle and reciting the tashahhud and saying Allaahumma Salli 3alaa MuHammad, and saying "as-salaamu 3alaikom".
Each cycle of prayer takes about 1 or 2 minutes.
Muslims pray to fulfill the obligation of Prayer. It has many wisdoms. The Prayer helps one to remember God and to stay on track away from sins.

I pray five times a day, each prayer separately..
This is the obligatory prayer, which means every Muslim must do it..
The first is called the Fajr prayer, which is done at dawn when the sun is not up yet..
This prayer ends after the moment the sun rises..
Second one is called Dhuhr prayer, which is done at the time when our shadows are the same length as we are..
This one ends when the sun moves west and our shadows become longer..
Third one is the Asr prayer, which is done at the time Dhuhr ends..
The time for this prayer ends when the sun sets perfectly meaning no part of the sun is visible but the sky is red..
Fourth one is the Maghrib prayer, which starts when the sky/horizon becomes red and ends when when there is no more red in the sky..
Last one is the Isya' prayer, which starts when Maghrib ends and ends when the Fajr prayer starts..
You see, every end of one prayer is the start of another one (except for the Fajr, Dhuhr starts at noon)..
This doesn't mean you can do it as long as the time does not expire. No. We Muslims are encourage to pray exactly when the time starts for each prayer..
Of course, we have the exact time for each prayer. For example, the time Dhuhr starts here in my place is 12.35 p.m.
The methods to measure the shadows were used (and are to give the exact time) by the Muslims before the clock was invented..
And you asked how long we pray. That's not of concern at all. The most important thing in the prayer is how well you do it. But since you asked, it depends on each person. If you read a longer Verse of the Qur'an for the prayer, it'll take you longer (and it is reccommended to lengthen it)..
May Allah guide us all..

Salah is the name for the obligatory prayers which are performed five times a day, and are a direct link between the worshipper and God with no earthly intermediaries. A prayer takes a few minutes to perform.
Here is a flash programme on how Muslims pray

The length depends on what time you are praying at. Like the morning prayer is the shortest one, while the night prayer is the longest. If you want the whole low down about it then you could read it here.

For me prayer is a way to connect with God and to thank God for every thing. I hope it helps. :)

Everyone already explained Salat (the 5 daily prayers) so I thought I would add that we also have du'a which are supplications that we make at any time. It is when we ask God for things like guidance, patience...or anything! :) There are some scripted ones but it's also the time when we just say whatever we want.
