If they want you bad enough you can get anything you want on the contract. And that includes less than 15 months. If you demand sack time with some decent looking WAC they will include that as well. What ever it takes to get you to sign on the dotted line nitwit! The reason is very simple they have no intention what so ever of fulfilling the terms of the contract as it pertains to you! What are you going to do once your in there after the fact-absolutely nothing!

You could call a recruiting center and ask.... If you don't want to give your name and they ask, give a fake name. Idid that for months before I joined, obviously I gave my real name eventually. I served for 4 and loved it! Obviously the more you commit to the better job (MOS) you get and the better station. Don't expect to be sent to Hawaii or Germany for a 15 month tour you'll end up a gunner in Oklahoma or Iraq

Have you ever heard of "stop loss"? They keep you pretty much as long as they want. Don't let the recruiters lie to you. I'm not saying don't join, but be prepared to stay a while.

Hell, you can go reserve and just do the time training, and make it 6 months active if you want...then do two weeks of training once a year. Thats how I started.

At my basic I found a guy who was enlisted for just 18 months. It depends what your MOS is. I am in for five years.

they had a special 18 month enlistment not long ago. They might still have it...
I would not recommend it... go for the Air Force.... if not them then the Navy.... never the marines!
