Billy Graham was greatly used as an evangelist but he had little of substance to say to the body of Christ. I think the last great preacher was A. W. Tozer. Since then many fine teachers have appeared, but I see no one who has come forcefully, prophetically, and accurately speaking to the Church. Subsequently we have big names who are silent about gross heresy in the church such as the Word Faith movement and who tend to tailor their message to whatever fills pews and sells books. The outstanding preachers of history such as John Wesley, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Finney, and Charles Spurgeon were men who rose above the prevailing culture within the Church and relying on the Holy Spirit; spoke a life-changing, God-honoring message from the Lord. Perhaps the church today is so indoctrinated in the contemporary "what's in it for me" culture of the world that we find a real preacher distasteful. I suspect God has raised up great preachers for our day but we have not listened to them.

that would be Jesus Christ, God's Son.

I think it's more the Gospel and the Good News, that is the Greatest Teacher of all. I'll leave that Judgement to Him, who is best qualified to choose the Greatest according to God and not unto men, rather to names names, as many are called by God and many have come to the foot of the cross.

Since He who is Teacher, Priest, Rabbi and Lord of all, has said The Greatest in the Kingdom of God is servant of all, therefore who can fully know this answer but the One who raised them up, which is our Father who is in heaven?

In my opinion in our time? That would still be Jesus Christ, His Words and the Power of the Holy Spirit to convict and to save, and the Greatest Preacher is still and will all ways be, the Word of God & the full Gospel of Love & Forgiveness that Jesus Christ has shown and taught, who was Himself the Word made flesh, since in the beginning, was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God, there is no prophet, teacher or priest greater .

It says in His Word, that these three testify, the Spirit, water and the blood. "We except man's testimony but God's testimony is greater, because it is the Testimony of God which He's given about His Son"

**Because when it comes right down to it, who on this side of heaven, is truly qualified enough to answer which one is greater? there's an old saying:

**"The ground is level at the foot of the cross."

We just received the Time mag and Billy Graham was on the cover !!! He is my guy with the simple message of the Gospel. John Hagee is the man for our age because he is on tap to the problems of today and preaches with great fervency !!!

Certainly God alone could know that. My favorites are two.
A. W. Tozer and Leonard Ravenhill. Tozer died in 1963 or 1966 but his books are wonderful instruction in the things of God. Ravenhill died about a year or so ago, but his books are a strong challenge to Christians to wake up to their moral responsibility to a dying generation.

While these two men never achieved the notariety of Hagee, Graham and many of the others they stand as giants of the faith who would never compromise what they believe.

In the late 1800's and early 1900's a man rose up and was mightily used of God to lead Revival after Revival. His name was Charles Grandison Finney. He was a mighty man of prayer, and his words were like arrows flying to the heart of his listeners. I think he would insult the soft Christians of this generation because he spoke directly like a prophet without apology to anyone for what God told him to speak.

The other two men I mentioned are cast in the mold of this great man. We need such men in this generation to call the lazy church to repentance and revival.

I certainly agree with Billy Graham and next in line for me, especially considering his message for today, would be D. James Kennedy. God bless!!

I like the ones you mentioned. I think Pastor Lester Sumrall was an excellent preacher, and he did so much for the Lord. He was humble and he knew who he was in the Lord. Another one was Pastor E.V. Hill. He also preached with authority.

The late (great) Pope John Paul II. He had to have had considerable influence for more than 7 MILLION to show up in Rome to pay their last respects. No-one else on the face of God's green earth has ever had as many dignitaries, heads of state and heads of various religious faiths be present at his funeral. No-one. "Four kings, five queens, at least 70 presidents and prime ministers and more than 14 leaders of other religions were attending alongside the faithful." http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/04/08/pope.funeral/index.html
