If you go through American security checks, they will take anything over 3.4oz in carry on bags. That includes quarts of Rum and such.

In England, some flights will pull any liquids including toothpaste and deodorants.

Other countries will vary. For example, in Canada, there is often an American security check before you get on the flight home. In some other countries, they don't care... most of Africa and Asia will have no issues with you carrying on liquids. I had not issues in China and Nepal for example. I have had trouble in South America over even a bottle of water.

To get the liquor home, check it in your baggage and hope the baggage people don't steal it. Or, ship the liquor home. Better yet, just buy it at the local liquor shop at home. :-)

It has to be bought in the duty free shops after security checkpoint, and must also stay in the sealed bag. Not sure where you are flying from but if out of the country and have a connection in the US, customs and security may not allow it in, something to do with the sealed bags in other countries.

Not unless you buy it inside the airport past the security checkpoint, like at the duty-free shop or something. However, you can pack a bottle in your luggage if you check it instead of carrying it on.

Well...on the way back from Florida a few years ago, I had stuff an entire bottle of Alize in my carryon and had no problems...granted that was before the rule of no liquids and now there are certain guidelines that need to be followed for taking liquids on planes.

You can bring a bottle, but it will have to be in your checked luggage. If you want to carry it on board, you'll have to buy it at duty free and have it delivered to the plane. That only works if you are arriving at your final destination.... if you have to make a connection in the US and go through security again from an international flight, your liquor will have to be discarded.

We brought a couple of bottles home from Tokay, Hungary recently.... wrapped them with dirty clothes and they came through fine in our check luggage.

You can if you purchase it AFTER you pass through security but then you wouldn't be able to drink it on your flight since you'd recieve your bottle at your destination.

Happy travels!
