i am a 15 year old girl and ran 63 but if you weren't trying and just criusing i'd say that is a decent time, however i wasn't trianing for it and neither were you so it is hard to run a decemt time. but to make a team you should show that you really want it and actually try

No, 66 seconds is the pace for a 2:12 800 and a 4:24 mile, which many good distance runners can do. My 400 time is 58.4 seconds, but I run distance, a sprinter should be able to get under 55 seconds to make the average Varsity team. But it depends I know long distance people in my state who can run 49 seconds for the 400, but they are really good.

Ok, well 66 seconds
Not impressed, I'm going to grade 10, I did it in 68 seconds in grade 8, then again, there was competition and competition makes you run faster
It all depends on your expectations, if you want to win a medal or maybe a ribbon you better start practicing
I see lots of excuses in your description, one thing in running is that you put your excuses behind you, from what you're telling me, I'm sure you're athletic and some training would cut your time in no time
I'm assuming you're a guy, I am too

It's better than average but 60 is usually the break point between good and average.
Knowing nothing about you I would say that if you were to spend a month running you could go under 60.
Maybe consider going out for cross country to build up some endurance and race on the track in the spring.

i run distance, and sometimes after races like the two mile or the mile, my coach puts us in a 400 heat to sprint the lactaid out of our legs. Even so, after a 2 mile race, i can run under 60 seconds, usually 56 or 57. People on my team even better than myself can run low 50's, after a distance race. But, considering you are not a runner and you had no competition its alright, just know that you can probably do better.

If this was your 1st time I must say that is excellent! Not knowing what is a good time and not trying your hardest, I see you've got really good potential, very reachable in a few weeks / months with work, education and dedication. I used to run the 400 and mile relay. Keep up the great work.
(it was his 1st try, people! it was better than our firsts!)

my guy friend is 15 and his PB is 56 secs but thats no where near a medal for the guys and hes been running for years. although i still think 66 is a pretty good time. the U17 3rd place girl at the west scottish nationals got 64 secs so your not far off, dont no about the guys though.

good if you've never done the event, never trained for the event, what equipment were you wearing(basketball shoes and baggy shorts or track shoes/spikes,running shorts and a singlet) and it wasn't for a track competition but testing to make the football team as you said. That time won't make you a star on the track team though, but if you decide you like it and train hard you will run faster than that

thats pretty good for a first time!!!! i am 14 and going in to tenth aswell and i run about a 60, but i'm a girl so thats not the best time for guys.
if you really care about your time, then some of the best track runners get wayy down near the 50's but because you play football that type of speed isn't needed.
GOOD JOB NONETHELESS!!!
