Veal is nothing more then Beef. But it is young beef usually under three months of age. It is prized for being very tender and lean.

Now that you know by the answers already given...how do I cook veal? Most likely you have a blend of veal (young beef) and regular ground beef formed into a patty, lightly breaded. These are best used in making veal parmesan, served with tomato sauce and spaghetti or in a roll. Either way, brown patty (both sides) in olive oil, top with sauce and shredded mozzerella cheese, simmer til done and serve. Parmesan cheese can be sprinkled on top.

Veal,is young beef, weight limit and age on veal is very low,to make the meat more tender and juicy. Its also a higher cost meat as there is less finished product from the processed cow.......george

Veal "used to be" a milk fed calf.

This hasn't been true for many years. Ranchers will not sell a young calf. They do not bring enough money since they usually dress out less than 100 lbs.

Today, a calf is raised to several hundred lbs., fed hormones, penned in a small space, no excercise, with plenty of water, but little food.
Starvation causes "anemia", creating a gray/pinkish color to their meat, to resemble the color of a young calf.

This is abuse.
I no longer consume "veal".

There are groups fighting this practice but so far, to no avail.

This is not well known.
