I want to use Allen Carr's Easy Way To QuitSmoking. Must I smoke while reading?

I have stopped buying cigarettes 5 days ago but am still suffering a bit. I want to use Allen Carr's book but it says that it is essential that i smoke until I finish the book? Should I just buy another pack and read it? Or is it still effective to just go ahead and read it without? Thanks for your help!

do not buy and more cigarettes, read the book without smoking. you will not gain anything by continuing to smoke, good job and good luck
