"To the woman He gave nine curses and death: the burden of the blood of menstruation and the blood of virginity; the burden of pregnancy; the burden of childbirth; the burden of bringing up the children; her head is covered as one in mourning; she pierces her ear like a permanent slave or slave girl who serves her master; she is not to be believed as a witness; and after everything--death." [Leonard J. Swidler, Women in Judaism: the Status of Women in Formative Judaism, Metuchen, N.J: Scarecrow Press, 1976, p. 115]

"Praised be God that he has not created me a gentile. Praised be God that he has not created me a woman. Praised be God that he has not created me an ignoramus." [Swidler, op. cit., pp. 80-81]

I hate to be Captain Obvious but, what's your question?

The first quote I've not heard before and I have no idea where it came from.

The second--yes, that's part of one of the morning prayers; however, you (and possibly this fellow Swidler) have taken it out of context--not unusual, sad to say. The blessing is not intended to disparage women or imply that they are inferior, but merely to express gratitude for the fact that men are obligated to perform more religious commandments (women are not obligated to perform time-bound commandments). This explanation in fact appears explicitly in the earliest version of the blessing.

Nice use of quotation marks, I am very impressed! And that you also used brackets instead of parentheses impresses even the more! I am just jealous since I have never mastered the bracket thing as well as you have!

I dont suppose there is a question in there amungst the brackets?

Sorry. . . I don't recognize any of the stuff you typed up there.

If you're really searching for the truth, try this:

Life Application Bible ~ New International Version.
This Bible has commentary on each page to explain what the scriptures mean, in an easy-to-understand way.

Who are you, a man or a woman that have problems with your gender? Don't forget that God created Eve to accompany Adam in Garden Of Eden. He created woman for man. God bless U
