Yes, he was as a guardian according to the book of Ezekiel 28:11
he wasn´t the snake, he was a Cherubim that used the snake.
"You are sealing up a pattern, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 In E´den, the garden of God, you proved to be. Every precious stone was your covering, ruby, topaz and jasper; chrys´o·lite, onyx and jade; sapphire, turquoise and emerald; and of gold was the workmanship of your settings and your sockets in you. In the day of your being created they were made ready. 14 You are the anointed cherub that is covering, and I have set you. On the holy mountain of God you proved to be. In the midst of fiery stones you walked about. 15 You were faultless in your ways from the day of your being created until unrighteousness was found in you"

I have also heard that it was Lucifer, disguised as an angel, who tempted her. They said first he tried to tempt Adam, but Adam knew it was the Devil, so he later tried again on Eve, and she fell for it.
Another idea says that the serpent was actually a black man possessed by the devil... But to me, this theory doesn't make sense, because black men today do not crawl on their bellies... And where did this person come from if it was only Adam and Eve??
"The serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field -- Genesis 3:1
In Christian Identity theology, the serpent is a black male ("beast of the field"), possessed by the devil, who seduced Eve. Cain is the child that is born from this union, the evil son of the devil and the first Jew. All Jews are descended from Cain."
Something else I heard was that the fruit of the tree was Eve's virginity, which is why they realized they were naked. I guess they realized their body parts could be sexual...? And is why the punishment is women going into painful labor, and men have to work so hard to support the wife.
Well, in two versions they say Cain is born of the Devil (one version literally, the other by temptation). Which explains why God didn't love him as much, and why he committed the first murder.

well, I do not recall that the Lucifer was not allowed in the garden?
but there is this, that would say that the serpent was Lucifer
2Co 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety,
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

One would be delivered approximately think of so, yet actually, we actually have no way of understanding. traditionally, while a clean faith "pops up", what it would do is demonize the previous faith's god. The mainstream faith till now Judaism became into an historical Sumerian faith whose god became into represented by using a serpent. i'm unsure the place the theory the serpent in the backyard became into Lucifer, since so some distance as i comprehend, no Biblical texts propose that for the duration of any respect.

The Genesis reference refers only to a snake. So from Genesis that is the only conclusion that can be drawn. Other passages of scripture suggest that the Archangel Satan was involved: "He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years." Revelation 20:2 (NIV)
So it may be a situation where the snake allowed Satan to use his body. Thus the punishment for the snake. Later church tradition certainly believes that Satan was involved.

The Demiurge is described as a serpent with the face of a lion. I never thought about that before...

The bible never states for certain. The Assyrian tale suggests that it was Enki, the god that stood up for mankind against the tyrannical Enlil.
