I once put sex in the title of mine to see what would happen
I got 83 answers and about 20 stars lol
the question was even about sex ... but the title was enough
it is sad but true that people dont put thought into the deeper questions
they want quick witty questions , or negative questions ... just to give a one line answer and pick up 2 points

But look at the answers.
When some tool comes on here and asks "Why are atheists in this section?" or whatever, they get 37 replies that all say "".
There are usually only a few decent answers to any question.
It's true that if you just want to get a big reaction, ask an inflammatory question. If you challenge people with something that's actually deep and takes more than five seconds to kneejerk-react to, don't expect the same turnout.

I sometimes get only 1 answer. Either they can't take the truth or they don't want to face the truth. If they think they got a little chance of confusing you with distortion of truth they will try and if not they back off.
There are those who truly love Truth- majority of these are in prisons or in the insane houses; while those who don't are sitting at the top of social standings are corrupted to the core.
There are those who think they love Truth (Pseudo Christianity and all religions).
There are those who are just lost and waiting to find their true bearing as to which way they should go.
The worst kind are those who are totally sold out to lies and are serving the kingdom of darkness for their won glory and power-the Hitlers, the Saddam Husseins, The Psychopaths and the Sociopaths and all the psychic Vampires.
If it's lies and no brainer - they all will flock to it like flies to the dung!

When I first came here, a deep question could easily garner 60+ answers. My personal best is 124. How things change in only a year, and your observations are exactly correct.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the vast majority of questions are repeats, and most people are tired of answering them. I know I don't answer as many as I once had, and I'm selective about the questions I do.

Sorry Kaliko...must have missed the first question.
When I finish with one question, I go to the list at the bottom...look over what's available, and go to one of them. Most time, I already have an idea of how I would answer it as if it was the two of us sitting at a coffee stand.
do I avoid the intellectually hard? No...I tend to want to avoid the "My god Zeus is laughing at you," because I don't think there is any intellectual merit.
In other words, why waste my time on goof-ball questions, when I can be engaged in something intellectually challenging.

or perhaps a lot of people are just looking for easy opportunities to earn 2 points for posting an answer to a simple question! After all, the system does "reward" (levels) quantity over quality!

So, you finally understand human nature. Some people have finally learned that they can still "Kick the Dog" in subtle ways on Yahoo and get away with it... for two points. There's a deep psychological/sociological need being met here on Yahoo Answers.... don't forget that either.

People come here for entertainment. What amazes me is that there are people such as yourself that would put a value judgement on the quality of someone else's entertainment. With your question, you've succeeded in putting down a goodly number of community members, and yet you are simultaneously arguing against this type of behavior.
You're an odd bird...

Yes, it happens quite often, but at the same time some questions get passed over because of the sheer volume of questions that appear at the same time. If I had seen it, I would probably have at least tried to answer your question, can you post a link to it?

I admit to my share of no brainer yes or no answers. I do try to pick out some that really want an answer, though.
