Lucifer and the battle in Heaven took place in eternity past, this was before Creation of earth and before the fall.

To better explain...
"God did not originally create the Earth without form and void; it became this way after a cataclysmic happening; this happening was the revolt of Lucifer against God, which took plac some time in the dateless past" KJV Expositor's Edition Study Bible

No earth before the 7 days of creation. Lucifer was polluting the second heaven or totally out of this universe.

Stood with the other angels and worshipped God.

what makes you think the fall took place before creation?

Each time God ended a day, He said "and it was good." And when it was all done, He said "and it was ALL good."

couldn't be ALL good if the devil was already in rebellion.

Me...I think he was a bit perterbed when he saw the Creator wanted to walk in fellowship with a fleshly being, who Lucifer probably thought was lower than an angel.

He wasn't there until the day he slithered in to tempt Eve with the fruit of knowledge.

Till then he was still in hell, having coffee with Beelzebub.

The Creation story is of course an allegory written by the authors of Genesis to make a point: God created the world, and gave humans free will, and humans tend to choose evil sometimes.

He was said to occupy a position of favor with -- and was said to be loved above all other angels by God but fell from that favor when he attempted to take the Mercy Seat from Christ, for whom it was created.

I like your explanation to an extent. Satan was 'born' outside of the spacetime continuum, like ALL the angels. He didn't come to the earth until it became interesting, ie, until Adam and Eve showed up.
