Dont sweat it...you will be fine. It is natural to worry about things like this especially when you sign your name on the dotted line. Dont think you are getting suckered because you are signing a new contract....just read the fine print.

They most likely will not change your mos, and you will go to AIT when it first becomes available. That may mean that you become a 'hold over' after BCT. Being a hold over you are subject to another company and will have to continue to work with that BCT company, including fire guard and any mass smoking's that are givin.

The truth is that when you join the military you may be schooled in one MOS but you are subject to the army needs: example I was a 13P Field Arty, but when I when to Iraq I was doing convoy scurity which is an MP's job. You can always be moved to another MOS if the army needs you there more then at your current position.

Being affiliated with the Navy, I wouldn't recommend signing anything I wouldn't want to face the consequences of. In the USN, you cannot change your specialty until after two years of designation. There are no guarantees, the manning level and requirements change dramatically every couple of years. I've been getting the same feedback from both the Army and Marines - it is quite hard to change your specialty.
Hope it helps.
You can also try to check at Military.com web forums, you will get better idea, most likely.

You again? Listen up, Troop. Before you sign all you have to do is read your enlistment contract and if you see something on it that you don't like, DON'T SIGN IT. Any blank space and the Recruiter just says "TRUST ME", then DON'T SIGN IT.

You really don't anything to worry about, if it is in black and white on the paper Sam is going to honor it.

The only issue you should concern yourself is making should you meet the course requirement for 42A AIT, the MOS is yours only if you successfully complete the course of instruction. If you fail that course Sam reserves the right to assign you to any MOS he likes.

Best wishes

Once your locked into a contract they cannot legally break that contract, if the contract they have you sign is different than what you wanted don't sign it.

Also keep a copy of any military document that you are given, or that you sign. This includes a copy of your medical/dental records.

I used to be a 42A, I reclassed because it is very hard to get promoted to Sergeant and Staff Sergeant, as far as changing your MOS, just make sure YOU look at the contract before you sign it.
P.S. you should change your MOS to 96B (Intelligence Analyst)

ROFLMAO! renegotiate your contract? what are you an NFL football player?

If you signed on the dotted line for a certain MOS, then that is what you will train for, unless you screw up then the military will assign you an MOS!
then again if theres a critical need for a certain MOS, then you are shyt out of luck!YOU can get your MOS changed -involuntarily!
