Would being on an antidepressants disqualify you from potential police careers?

I'm worried about scoring high enough on the civil exam for police recruit and being disqualified because of using Wellbutrin. Is this something that is considered "okay" or immediately DQ'd.

As far as my Physical Fitness test training everything is fine and within standards. I'm just concerned when it comes to medical and background with the wellbutrin.

Thanks for the help

You know....I'm not so sure I agree with the too often prescribed anti-depressants from doctors these days.

Too many physicians do a "quick fix" to what the patient claims is depression when sometimes counselling often works as well if not better.

My suggestion is you seek guidance from your physician to determine if there is an alternative treatment to your depression.

It's always a chance that the use of anti-depressants can disqualify you!

Best wishes.

The exam is the easy part, and the anti depressants, not nessarily...however, you may have difficulty with the psychological. If you have a history of past mental health problems, which if you're on Wellbutrin you do, you will not be able to qualify for employment with a police department.

Yes, in most cases it will disqualify you.
