I have a sister who is that "crazy lady with all the cats."
Here's my theory: She is very lonesome, but people are too difficult to deal with. They want something from her, they cry, they forget, they disappoint. She doesn't get along well with most people, except a couple of girlfriends she has had since grade school. She is fed up with getting to know anyone, because they always are too much trouble.
Therefore, crippled cats.

Its a companion thing. Crazy people probably dont have many people to talk to, for obvious reasons. Dogs dont work well for that, so they get cats.

I think some "strange/crazy" people find simularities in their felines. They like them so much that they collect more and more.. It becomes a habit I believe. Also as they are very independant animals, they don't need to worry so much about attention etc, although they do love them.. By feeding them. o_O

Don't knock the "crazy" people...sometimes, they are just labeled "crazy" for thinking so differently than the majority. Think about some of the geniuses.

Some people love animals and will go without food themselves to feed cats or other animals. Of course maybe its not a cat house as much as a meat supply station for your favorite Asian restaurant.

cats seem to be wiser and sometimes it seems like they listen to what you are saying ermm that is if you talk to them. Dogs are not as sensitive to things as cats are. etc etc
