Fully auto weapons can be owned by individuals, but getting the approval is almost impossible. One of the requirements is that you have to get the chief law enforcement officer in your city or county to sort of co sign for you on the BATF forms, and I know of no police chief or sheriff who will stick his neck out for a regular citizen.

No, you cannot own an automatic weapon in Ohio. And a semi-auto with a clip that holds more than 30 rounds is also considered automatic. Except for a 22lr. They arent included on the 30 round limit.

Are you talking semi-automatic or fully automatic? If you are talking about a fully automatic weapon, then the only legal way to use one is if you are in the military. Semi-automatics can be purchased behind the counter if you are approved for a gun license. My brother in law owns an M-16. But he can only legally own it because it is semi-automatic. Same thing with his AK-47 and Yugoslavian SKS. But that's only a small list of his arsenal.

In any State you need a Class 3 Federal Firearms license. I'm not sure about local or State licensing in Ohio.

i'm from michigan, so i know michigan laws, but i'll give this a try. in most states, maybe even all of them, in order to own an automatic FIREARM (calling them weapons only perpetuates a negative rep.) you must have whats called a class 2 license. i've heard it's illegal in ohio, but you could check it out anyway.

they are banned by FEDERAL LAW meaning every state applies to it. so no, it's not legal. they only way i can see someone possessing them is that they have some type of military background or you do something in law enforcement.
