and I actually know what he has to say. Ive read the bible more than a few times.
But seriously man, not all, but many of you act like you have no idea what the bible even says. Most of those I see on here are so resemblant of the pharisees jesus preached about that one would be hard pressed to find any difference.
That being said why is it that the followers of christ are the single biggest reason people stay away from the religion? From what I recall isnt that like the ultimate sin? To cause others to stray?

Rev. Albert Einstein- No man I reject it for my own reasons, however I abhor one thing more than anything else, hypocrites. If ya claim to believe in something then it should be in action and word not just lip service.

Jiloth 7- I have my own reasons why I reject christ. You can rest assured they do not involve others christians or otherwise. As to the beam in my own eye, to some I have many to others I have none, whatever the case I work on them as best I can. As to my post, just callin it like I see it and tellin some folks to put up or shut up.

I think alot of Christians give Christianity a bad name. They condemn people who don't look, act, or live like them. God forbid a gay man, prostitute, or homeless person would walk into their church. Alot would snub them to the point they'd never come back. They are the ones who need to be there. It is their sin that God hates not them. God loves them just as much as He loves us. It takes no more of God's grace to save them that it did to save me. There is a song by Todd Agnew that pretty much sums up the church today it's called My Jesus.

That is an excellent question. I (as I've said on this board many times) was raised in the catholic church. I went to catholic school all the way through high school. I find the church, and a good majority of the followers to be hypocrites happy to point the finger while their own skeletons are piling up in their closets. Picking and choosing what to follow as it suits them. Homosexuality vs. adultery for example. Or divorce and remarriage: Luke 16:18 states that it is adultery and therefore is at odds which is the 7th commandment. But because that's inconvenient - we don't take that one too seriously. Or the 4th commandment. Or the 5th or the 10th. But homosexuality - they're the sinners? And what about Matthew 7:1 - 7:5? I think the bible is pretty clear on judging others.
NotFooled - It is expressly written that it is NOT your duty to point out the sins of others. I especially think you should re-read Matthew 7:1 - 7:5 - here, I'll make it easy for you:
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2.For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4.How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5.You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

When you are done pointing your finger and examining every Christian in the "light of your understanding of scripture" you may just want to slow down enough to find out why you are so well versed in the scriptures and so willing to be a fault finder.
Have you removed the beam from your own eyes? It is very unlikely since you are the Pharisee that you accuse others of being. This is your second post, and I see nothing that is of value or that is constructive but rather an excusing of your rejection of Christ which you blame on others.
Do you actually think God is going to let you get away with this farce? You are the one who will bear the weight of your own guilt. Whether Christians live their lives to suit you or not is of little consequence since you "know the Bible" and know that we will all be judged for our own sins.
The crux of Christianity is that we examine ourselves and repent of our own sin and then live to love and serve Christ.
If you haven't done that yet you don't have a leg to stand on.
Remember too that the Bible teaches us that we are to judge righteous judgment. Perhaps you might want to begin with that statement to see if you have anything to say about others.
Remember also that the Bible says that "love covers a multitude of sins." All you are doing is exposing what you believe to be reasons to reject Christianity -- therefore the righteous judgment would be that you have no real reason to reject Christianity at all but are lying to yourself or listening closely to the devil and believing his lies.
Quit making excuses for your sin and repent - God will teach you the right way to approach others and offer help instead of
"accusing the brethren." You will certainly find more honest fulfillment in that than you currently find in accusing them.
EDIT: I PITY YOU THEN BECAUSE WHATEVER REASON YOU MAY HAVE IT IS A FALSE REASON. CHRIST IS THE ONLY PERFECT PERSON WHO EVER LIVED AND IN HIM THERE IS NO FAULT. REJECTING HIM SEALS YOUR ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM GOD - I GRIEVE FOR YOU
EDIT: Somewhat aware perhaps, but not fully aware. Billions of years in grief and sorrow over your decision is beyond our meager imagining, and that will only be the start of eternity.

So you have read the bible a few times and really like what Jesus has to say? According to the bible study, only 30% of it's content are of Jesus and the rest are of St Paul.

"NotFooled - It is expressly written that it is NOT your duty to point out the sins of others."
Then is it a sin to point out the sins of others? If it is, then your pointing out NotFooled's sin of pointing out the sin of others is a sin. If it isn't, then what are you pointing out... something that is not a sin? But then why would you point it out? The problem with using the verse to mean that one should not point out the sins of others is that it would then be self-contradictory, as it is pointing out a sin (i.e., judging). Perhaps the context would thus indicate that a different meaning of "judge" should be used.
"That being said why is it that the followers of christ are the single biggest reason people stay away from the religion?"
Sometimes it's because it is the Christian is in error. Sometimes it's because the Christian is not in error, but is not conveying the truth in a loving manner. Sometimes it's because the Christian is conveying the truth in a loving manner, but the person receiving simply just wants to reject it.

No, you need to go back and read it again.
In Matthew 12:31-32, Jesus says to the Pharisees,
"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come" (NKJV, emphasis added).
I know atheist keep saying horrible things about how bad Christians are and how they are self righteous and Judgmental but that is just not true...If you repeat a lie often enough, it will be believed, so I guess that is what they are hoping for. Most of the Christians I met before I got saved, were sweet and loving and just concerned about my soul.
When a Christian tells you something you are doing is a sin,,,they get that from the Bible....they are not being Judgmental...God is the judge and that is what he says...as for self righteous...never met a one who was..but I have met a lot of mocking and self righteous atheists..and judgmental...just look how you treat Christians your don't even know. You need to sweep under your own front porch first..before you criticize others.

If people leave Christianity because of other people, that's the problem of the person leaving as it's completely for the wrong reason. If a person expects a Christian to be perfect, they've obviously not read the Bible. Why that person would leave instead of trying to help those people is beyond me.

I think you answered your own question. The thing is, as sinners, we often can't help others remove the mote from their eye because of the log in our own. Jesus said that, too.
Trying to change someone else is pointless. If Christians live their lives as Jesus preached, loving, forgiving, trying their best to follow God, their impact will be much greater than those who try to browbeat others or scare them out of hell.
A preacher I much respect said that he believed in loving sinners into heaven, rather than scaring them with hellfire and damnation.

It would be true to say that even you don't know where your coming from: The fololowers of christ are the single biggest reason people stay away from religion?? I think not. As there is more than one religion on earth other than your self-important christianity. and if by chance that ultimate sin is to cause people to stray. Then i tell you this: I would rather commit that sin than follow chrisianities lead in accussing falsely, murder and theft. You can decide wihich of those sins are really the worst, seeing as how you portray yourself so intelligent.

You words indicate you are not of The Church... while you may have indeed read The Bible... and you may like what you think Jesus is teaching... The Bible of The True Christian Faith is not for the non-believer. Only those open to the leading of God , through The Holy Spirit, will find what God has for them there.... You will not find God by reading The Bible... and unless you come to God in The Way He prescribes and receive His free gift of Salvation... all the reading in the World will do you no good.
The Bible dose not prove God. But God will prove The Bible to those open to His leading.
