I think Ted Pack has it right. It depends on the circumstances. Normally the interest of family and country are the same, but if a family member is involved in something outrageous against our country, I would put country first. However, if our country became tyrannical and merciless toward other human beings, then my family as well as my friends should come first.

In what context? Usually the benefit of family is considered first but it must not be against the country's benefit. In some cases, the family's is included in the country's, so country first.

Country first. I'm not one of those rabid "rah-rah-speech-making" people. But I must say that the country comes first. For instance, we should ask this question of ourselves - "if somebody in the family is involved in nefarious activities, would we turn that person in"? The answer to that will usually point to whether one holds family higher or the country.

That depends very much on the circumstances of the situation. There are times when you must choose God or country over family. There are also times when you must choose truth above all others. AND there are times when you must choose a lie for the good of all. That is the hardest choice to make because you can never share why.

Family. Without all the individuals, all the families, there is no country. Contrary to what has been cramed down my throat my entire life, the individual is important.
