Just wondering if there are any bars in LB that you can smoke in, like any cool bars that the college crowd hang in and chill at, something not preppy- more of an urban vibe...?

You can smoke on the back patio at Ripples and Mick & Mack's. Anywhere else you have to go outside the club.

The only bars and food establishments you can smoke in are Hookah Bars and you can only smoke Hookah tobacco as smoking in public houses (that includes businesses) is illegal in the state of California and subject to a fine.

I believe that is a state law.
as I remember
back some time ago,, bar maids and the tenders were the ones filing 'second hand smoke law suits' along the actors singers and bands.

It is illegal in the State of California to smoke in a public place, indoors or out. In Malibu, you cannot even smoke on the Beach!
Such a friendly Government we have.
