My pontiac is overheating in stop and go traffic from I belive is because the fans on the radiator are not spinning. I bought the sensor but I canot locate where it is inside the car. I already changed the thermostat and the fuses so this is why I belive it is the sensor. If someone knows where it is located or has a diagram of the 3.4L that would be great! everything is just crammed in so tight I cant find anything in this car!! thank you!

The coolant sensor is always located very close to the thermostat so it will be underneath all that crap that is going to the intake's inlet. You will have to remove a bunch of stuff to see it. On the other hand, I doubt very much that is what is the problem. If the SES light on the dash is not coming on, chances are the sensor is okay. What is probably happening is the PCM is commanding the fans to come on, but either the relays are burnt out, the fusible links are burnt up, or the coolant fan motors have shorted out. What is the usual problem is the fan motor(s) have shorted out which usually cooks the relays and the fusible links. I would check the connectors at the relays and test for power and ground here before guessing. Good luck.

The fans by the radiator are not suppose to run all the time, they kick on when the engine reaches about 200 deg, unplug the censor by your thermostat with the engine running (It wont hut anything) when your unplug it the fans should kick on rite away if they don't there junk, If they do run it either the censor or the electric fan relay probably by your fire wall. If you hold your finger on the relay you will feel it click when the censor triggers it. If the relay don't even click when the engine gets hot the censor is bad and needs replaced. Good Luck!
