What is the fastest way known to get rid of cold sores or fever blisters ?

I have always gotten almost immediate relief by taking L-Lysine tablets. I get the 500mg. pills and take two twice a day or if it is a REALLY BAD one, I take two pills, three times a day. I double up on the dosage since it doesn't stay in the body there is no chance of overdosing on it. I get relief within the first 24 hours from taking the first dosage. I finally smartened up and take one a day on a daily basis and I haven't had one for a couple of years now.

I once had something similar happen to me. From the sun, there was one solid cold sore that completely encircled my lips. I never, never, never layed out in the sun again without lipbalm with sunscreen. Once you've had the sores for more than a couple of days, I don't know what will make it heal faster, but I will tell you that I my go-to remedy that completely prevents them from emerging in the first place is Cold Sores Begone. put preparation H on it. If inside the mouth, put the ointment on a small cotton ball, push it against the cold sore, and leave it there through the night. The pain is gone in minutes and the sore will be gone in 2 to 3 days. The ointment has a slight fish smell and taste but get used to it, it works great.

preparation H also works excellent for cuts and abrasions, cuts healing time in half.

I am not sure of the fastest way to get rid of them but taking one pill of L-Lysine (Nature's brand) daily has drastically reduced the outbreaks. I was only having 2-3 outbreaks a year and now I have had only 1 small outbreak in the past 1.5-2 years.
