I am born U.S. citizen about to enlist in the U.S. Air Force or Navy. I want to know about how long the process of getting my husband American citizenship would take. (He's Italian and we were married in Italy 9 years ago). Both my children already have U.S. citizenship. Thank you!

His marriage to you does not shorten the normal time to acquire naturalization as a U.S. citizen. I had ma ny shipmates who married foreign nationals and that fact did not move up their spouses place in line.
The only compression in time occurs for the foreign national who joins the military. That person can achieve naturalization much faster than normal.

My fiance is Italian and we are going through the same thing and I am in the Air Force. My friends just went through the whole process of getting him in country and it will take 2 years to get the citizenship. Just understand that if he gets American citizenship he will have to give up his Italian... Good luck

You need to contact the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to start the naturalization process.

The military has nothing to do with gaining citizenship, you need to contact Immigration. It is not a quick process either.
