I am told over and over again, that I cannot be gay and be Christian. However, there is no doubt in my mind that when I die, that I will go to heaven. Regardless of what you or your church says. God is the ultimate authority on not only scripture, but on one's heart...so why do you pretend to be all-knowing?

I am not welcomed in the religion I was raised, because I am a non-repentant gay man...so, you were able to steal my religion from me....but know, there is nothing you can do that will steal God from my heart.

Famine, persecution, peril, sword nor even the fundamentalist Christian can separate me from the love of God.

So, why do you try to condemn homosexuals?

Your opinion of interpretation of scripture may lead you to believe it to be sin... But, for the homosexual that feels led to worship with you, work with you, praise with you...why wouldn't you welcome him with no judgement as you do so many other people with perceived sins?

It seems that only a few are trying to answer your question. So my brother if you love the Lord you are welcome to worship with me. I also am a sinner and only through the grace of God have I found greedom and hope.

As I am a preacher, I would ask one thing of you. Would you ask me to be unfaithful of my interpretation of the scriptures? Or can I speak the truth in love while welcoming you as a brother in Christ? That is my dilemna. God has taught me that he loves you, but he has also taught me that the practice of homosexuality in incompatible with scriptural teaching. Can you worship at my side knowing that?

I was listening to the Phelps family last night on Tyra. Such unmitigated hate overwhelms me. I don't understand how a person can claim to be a Christian and yet have such hate for another. I don't want to ever be like that. Yet I have been called to preach the truth.

Is it possible to preach the truth as I know it while still welcoming you as a child of God. I am not talking of condemning you. I am more worried about my own soul. A merciful God will judge yours and he doesn't need my input. I'm also not talking about preaching this every week. When this question comes up in Bible study can I speak the truth while still caring for you as a brother?

Sometimes I feel like the homosexual community is telling me that unless I change my own belief on scripture that they are unwilling to worship with me. Can the truth be spoken in love while we worship together? It sounds to me like you really love God. So I welcome you.

Georgia Peach, I thought you were atheist?

As a Christian I don't feel that I should judge others. The Bible condemns homosexuality, but people should not use that as a reason for hate-mongering.
As someone who has known homosexual people and been friends with them-I have yet to meet a truly sound gay relationship, one that lasts throughout the years. I never met a gay person who did not have immense anger towards a parent or both parents. That was universal, male and female gays-they had hatred towards a parent(s). That is just my observation from years ago. Right now I don't know any openly gay people so I can't be certain that things haven't changed and relationships are more solid now than they were 20 years ago.
I tell my children that we are not to hate gays-but with that in mind, not to tolerate a gay person who makes a pass at them. That's honesty. I have had gay women make overt passes at me, and as a young woman I had no idea how to handle such behavior.
In talking to others about this I've been told that gay people are expansionists-the more homosexuals there are, the more political power gay people have, the more the gay agenda can be pushed on to the heterosexual society.
You're right about sinful people. We have no more right to judge gays than we do anyone else. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...

It is a sad duty to inform anti-gay Christians that there is no such thing as a "homophobic Christian," as they are two incompatible states of being. I pray for all who are living such an illusion.

The problem with those who use the Bible to justify homophobia is that their actions and words keep gay people from God. I know gay people who will not even consider believing in God based on the way they've been treated and the way they see other gay people being treated by these so-called Christians. To take away the opportunity for others to experience God, so they can feel comfortable in their homophobia, is tragic and horrible. This is putting a stumbling block in front of gay people and those who do this will be judged by God. "Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way." (Romans 14:13)

Anti-gay Christians cannot rob my faith from me. I am a Christian gay man and all their reviling of me and my faith will not change anything--it only makes my faith in God that much stronger. God loves me. The Bible tells us if we believe in Christ, we will go to Heaven. It does not say, if we are heterosexuals and believe in Christ, we will go to heaven. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) I will thank God and praise Him and love Him till the day I die and I will loudly proclaim my faith till the day I die.

Amen, there really isn't much more I could say, but I will. My brother is gay and I love him dearly, I really think being gay was beyond his control. It was in his genes, and what happened during my mothers pregnancy, no scripture involved in this, pesticide, and environment things that were going on, may have caused things to happen. Okay your think that I am trying to make a accuses for someone being gay, not at all I just think life has allot to do with it, and in the days of the Bible, men were at war and away from their family and may have done strange things, but that is what I think the Bible is talking about, just my opinion.

All you Christians saying that it's a sin and quoting a bunch of scripture: don't you think pretty much all gay people have heard that before? Do you say it's an unforgivable sin? Wouldn't that mean that God can't forgive everyone, only people who fit your criteria of "not as bad of a sinner"?

To the questioner: amen

a man who's gay by birth but straight for the Lord is fine by me. sorry, but facts are facts. I'm sorry, I cannot sympathize with you. personally, if something's wrong, I have a feeling about it. even if I'm not sure I've Read it, I can generally tell "this is not okay" or "if it was right, don't you think...?".

gay people would be allowed in church as much as any other type of sinner. and I don't believe it is interpretation of Scripture that makes homosexuality wrong. it is not connotated sir.

my take on it is really a "God designed man this way for this reason, the Scripture says this, and God means it". look. even if you took 1 Corinthians 6:9, Romans 1:18-32, Leviticus 20:13 and Leviticus 18 out of context, there's still Bible verses that outline marriage and proper sexual relations.

for example, one of the earliest words used for man describes one who is competant to worship. worship itself is basically defined as honoring God, His decisions, His sovereignty. Loving your spouse properly is worship to Him. Having the right spouse is worship to Him. sex is an act of worship (when done right) to Him.

You can't live in sin and expect to be accepted into Heaven. God loves you SO much. He loves me, too. We are not without sin. As a gay person, you are no different than the rest of us whom are trying to get along in this world. When I read the Bible, I'm told that I cannot murder, cannot covet my neighbor's property, cannot lust after another, etc. You are bound by that same Bible. None of us can just pick and choose which parts of it we will follow. It's all or nothing. When we sin, we beg forgiveness humbly and are told that He will forgive us IF we are sincere and IF we turn from that sin. That same Bible condemns homosexuality. It's a sin, the Bible calls it an abomination. That same Bible. It's not that Christians hate gay people, however, I do agree that some Christian people can't seem to separate the two. Come to my church - we'll love you anyway. Just like they love me anyway, a sinner. We don't condemn the man, we condemn the sin. I pray that this makes some sort of sense.

I am not gay - but I was a smoker. An indulgent smoker, putting that lifestyle before Christ. I couldn't give it up. It was just a "little thing that I did", harmed no one but myself. See how I justified all of that? Sure I can smoke NOW, if I have one and don't "lust after" another one. Because I did. It was more important to me than to give it up for Him. He helped me quit, by the way. I don't have that kind of will power. Your lifestyle is justified away in your mind as being "okay" and "acceptable". And even tho the Bible tells you it's wrong, you continue to "lust after it" or "worship what you do" more than you respect the Word of God.

Bottom line is, your relationship with God is just that - - yours. A personal, close relationship with Jesus Christ not needing outside affirmation or "people on your side" for you to know what the Lord wants for your life. That's between you two. Don't come to us and ask for our opinions or try to sway us to go against the Word, anymore than someone asking us to condone or accept that they shot their husband because he was beating the crap out of her or the kids. It's still a sin no matter what the justification. Sure she'll be punished here, but in Heaven, God will do the ultimate judging. And He might totally forgive her that she "murdered" due to the circumstances. Who knows the mind of God? But the Bible doesn't say "Thou shalt not kill -- except when your husband is beating the snot outta you". Final judgement is His and His alone. Not ours, not yours.

Get inside of yourself and spend the weekend alone except for Christ. Talk to Him because He's right there, loving you as a brother, as a friend, as your Savior. He's listening and wants to help out. If you're a Christian man, you've accepted the person of the Holy Spirit inside of you. He's with you always, He will never leave you and He will never forsake you!

I'll pray for you in this time of confusion. katiefish <><

some misconceptions here. God has condemned it, not man, so when a person repeats, not interprets the Bible, it's not them you're mad at because it isn't their law. The love of God does not equal approval or reward. He loves you no matter what, that doesn't make you right. If someone claims they are an inbred alien from mars, does that make it so? You are building a case on a foundation of your own opinion and you are not God, you are one human. You have to have a starting point of truth. If you believe the Bible really is truth, then you have to do a lot of twisting to get away from the fact that God did not make people with or approves of homosexuality.

You are angry and hurt. This is understandable but you are fulfilling the very scriptures that tell Christians they will be persecuted and judged for Christ's sake, it's not us you can really be mad at, it's God.

It's not so much an attempt at robbery, but is really an attempt at monopolizing faith and religion. They have simply placed a fence around their religion and then fantasize they have some right to allow or deny admittance inside that fence.

The Christians did the same thing to left-handed people 100 years ago, claiming the left-hand belonged to the Devil while the right-hand belonged to god. Therefore, any use of the left hand was demonic.

Who knows how many children were left learning disabled because of this fantasy about which hand belonged to which imaginary being.

Homosexuality is sinful because it is mentally and physically unhealthy to the homosexual. God does not want us to live an unhealthy lifestyle so He made it sinful. For proof of the God of Israel (the Christian God) please read below: The Judo-Christian God of the Bible is the One and True God because He is the only God that has withstood the test of time, science, history, and prophecies of the Bible. This can be seen through the Dead Sea Scrolls that were written over 2000 years ago; proving that it with stood the test of time because it matches up word-for-word of the Hebrew Bible today. Verses such as Leviticus 17:14 stating “For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.” and Isaiah 40:22 stating “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:”. These verses in the Bible are proven to be scientifically true thousands of years after they were written! The Israelites being enslaved to the Egyptians 3000 years ago and the Israelites spending 40 years in the desert is historically accurate proving that the Bible stands the test of history. And the test of prophecy is being fulfilled right now by the world leaders discussing and making plans how on they, the leaders of the world, are able to unite the world through a global government and economy. This is written in the Bible in verse of Revelation 13:7 “And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” and in Revelation 13:16-17 “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”.
