Im currently in college but Im not sure if its for me, but Im going to give it 1 semester.

Anyways if it doesnt work out Im moving from Alabama to Sna Francisco to work as Fire Fighter till I turn 21 and able to be a Police Officer.

Anyways Im posting here to ask a couple questions:

1) How easy would it be for me to get a job in San Francisco as a Fire Fighter? Can I just move their, get an apartment, and apply for the job? How Long would it take before I could start?

2) How much money do you usually get a week/month/year??

Entry-level H-2 Firefighter is not currently open for filing. The Fire Department does not anticipate any openings for H-2 Firefighter in the near future. If you would like to view a description of the job and / or submit an interest card, you may do so at http://www.jobaps.com/SF/specs/classspecdisplay.asp?ClassNumber=00H2.

Please note that interest card information is retained for only one year from date of submission. When a year has elapsed and no selection process has been conducted, you will have to resubmit your information. Also, note that for the next selection process an EMT certification [National Registry or State of California] will be strongly desired, and may be a minimum qualification.

Information regarding the H-2 Firefighter selection process is also available in a recorded message at 415.558.3260.

The hiring process for fire fighters tends to be long and very cometitive. There are not a lot of openings and people tend to remain in these jobs for a long time.
