why was harry scared of it and why did dumbledore didnt tell him??

The naked baby lying on the ground is actually the torn fragment of Voldemort's soul wich died along with Harry when Voldemort killed him.

I think it was a place between life and death. When Voldemort destroyed the part of his soul in Harry, Harry's soul became complete again. So there he met Dumbledore who was there to explain a few things to him. When Harry asked Dumbledore where he was, DUmbledore said taht it was Harry's party and he should know. Harry then said it looked like King's Cross but not quite it. But it wasn't really a dream as it happened. Just on another plane But what I really didn't get was the ugly bawling baby. What was it wasn't explained. Dumbledore just said that there's nothing that can be done about it. Could it be the evil Voldemort soul taht was attached to Harry when he tried to kill him but failed?

I am just about positive that it was the last part of Voldemort's soul. Harry was scared because he did not know what it was and he thought that he was dead. Dumbledore didn't tell him because he likes for Harry to figure out things for himself.

I think (and my friends agree - no offense) that that thing was the part of Voldemort's soul that harry used to have in him and that show that Voldemort's soul had departed him
and why Dumbledore didn't tell what it was was because Harry was supposed to figure it out

It was all that remained of Voldemort's soul. Remember in the final fight scene Harry tells Voldemort "I've seen what you will become" or something like that...

i think it maybe a baby voldy or a baby dumbledore. but i don't think it can be anyone else. and it may set many people to re-reading for clues.or we can find the answer in the next book if j.k.'s planning it.
