Just in case if you have not heard that President Faust passed away this morning. Here is a link about it just in case you want to look at it http://kutv.com/topstories/local_story_222081347.html
So my prayers and thoughts are with the President Faust, his family and the first presidency and others at this time.

I was wondering who you think the next second counselor would be, and it will be interesting to find out who it will be.

I hope and pray it will be someone like Elder Nelson, rather than a Boyd K. Packer or a Dallin H. Oaks or someone like that.

One of those two would surely drive some people out of the Church, I think, because of the way they handled the gay & scholar issues at BYU.

Edit: I apologize for the comments above. Please keep in mind that not all LDS critics feel that Mormons are going to hell, or that the leaders are douche bags. I personally send my condolences to President Faust's loved ones and hope that events like these can lead the LDS and LDS-critic communities closer together.

There are new child molesters everywhere that there are little ones. 60-one hundred? in the event that they're interviewing him, why won't be able to he arise with an exact quantity for goodness sake. Sounds suspicious to me. purely on your education, each physique in Utah knows of that the Tribune is throughout something that they think of will reason a issue for the LDS human beings. So, in SLC, it is somewhat the anti-Mormon paper. you're able to do your homework whilst it includes the origins of the 5 element megastar. we are unlikely to say sorry for the 5 element megastar. The 5 element megastar is seen the "megastar of Bethlehem" which could be a logo of Christ. It became a Christian image long until eventually now it became dubbed a goat head. i've got heard that it represents the 5 wounds of Christ. it is likewise linked with the "understanding of King Solomon" ~ the king commanded to construct what? A temple. The 5 element megastar is on many churches and synagogues. Is Texas a satanic state through fact it is have been given a pentagram megastar on it is flag?

I don't know, but it was shocking to hear that news. The first Presidency hasn't really changed since I could remember and so things are going to be different. President Faust was a very intelligent man both mentaly and spiritualy. We will all miss him.

I will miss Pres. Faust. I would love to see Elder Holland as the new counselor, and Bishop H. David Burton as the new apostle.

Well, his health did seem to be in steep decline for some time now.

hmmm, I would guess Boyd K Packer as he's the current acting president of the quorum of the 12, but you never know, callings can surprise anyone.

edit - come on people and read - the question clearly says "Second counselor" not "Prophet," they're not the same thing.

Okay. There are some truly ignorant responses out there.
It would be sheer speculation as to who Pres. Hinckley will select. I would guess a younger man. Personally, I would like to see Dallin Oaks in that position but that is just my bias speaking. Elder Eyring would be very good also.

I hadn't heard until I read your Q, then I went to the Church website and saw that it is true. So sad, but not surprising. He was looking ill at the last General Conference. My guess is Boyd K. Packer to be the next councelor.

Why exactly would someone who is going straight to Jesus, Joseph and celestial whoopee forever need anyone's prayers? Brownie points for them?

Why not divert those efforts to the trapped miners (and their families) who, if not already greeting Faust, could use your celestial leverage right about now?

I am shocked to see all the insulting posts. Hey guys, did we say nasty things when one of your leaders died? I don't think so!

I'm not even going to speculate. Who ever it is, the man will be chosen by our Heavenly Father.
