it was reording up until yesterday when i changed the properties or a setting and now it doesn't detect sound from my mic...does anyone know how i can change it back please?

Follow this procedure to configure the playback and recording devices in the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system.


1. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel window, under Pick a category, double-click the Sound, Speech and Audio Devices icon.
3. In the Sound, Speech and Audio Devices window, under or pick a Control Panel icon, double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon.
4. In the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window, click the Audio tab.
5. In the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window, on the Audio tab, in the playback box, ensure the playback device is correct.
6. In the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window, on the Audio tab, in the recording box, ensure the recording device is correct.

If this didn't work reinstall the Sound Recorder.

SOUND RECORDER SETUP
The following contains information on how to install, uninstall and reinstall Sound Recorder.

1. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel, double-click on Add Remove Programs icon
2. Click the Windows Setup tab
3. Highlight Multimedia, click the details button.
4. Once within Multimedia:
5. Check the box for Sound Recorder, click ok, and then apply to install.
6. Uncheck the box, click ok, and then apply to uninstall.
7. Uncheck the box, click ok, and then apply; go back in and recheck the box, click ok and then apply to reinstall.

Try checking the volume control and see if you might have accidently lower or muted the volume on the microphone.

Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Volume Tab > Advanced button

Should open a Window that dispaly the volume for all the output or playback devices. Click on Options and Properties. Change it to show the Recording devices instead. You will be able to adjust (mute/unmuted) the volume of the microphone from there.
