All. My girlfriend is a single mother in CA attending college. She recieves financial assistance and childcare. She will not be finished college until 2010. We would like to marry but are worried about loosing financial aid. If we get married will aid be lost instantly? Will we be assessed under joint income straight away? Is there anyway we can marry without impacting aid. Thanks. P.

The next school year after you marry your income will be considered along with her's. So I do not think the aid will be lost instantly.I think if you marry but file your taxes seperatly it will help. Definitly talk to a financial aid counselor at her school.

go to the financial assistance board and ask the question. they will determine this based on income and other factors.
