I'm not being pro or anti drugs here, I'm just saying it seems foolish that they wouldn't even check to make sure they're recieving the right person's urine. I know people who pee for their friends so they don't get in trouble. Don't the people doing the testing realize it's a waste of their time and efforts if they don't even DNA test?

For some of you who think I'm talking about when they send you into a separate bathroom to pee, I'm not. When you're a teen on a drug testing program, they have you send samples perodically from your home.

There are often cells in urine, and therefore DNA. But a drug text won't reveal it. DNA analysis is a much more complex process than a simple drug test.

DNA testing is far too expensive and takes too long to waste money on testing urine samples plus I don't think you can get DNA from urine anyway. You obviously have never given urine for a drug screening, they make sure the urine is yours by watching you give the sample. The doc is right there watching you piss.

I don't know the specifics; but to do a DNA test it takes time and money. A lot places need to know right away if a person is drug free either for employment, or for court. Most labs will have you urinate in a cup right in front of them, or have someone outside the stall. They won't let you flush until they have inspected everything. This method is more cost effective and it helps cut down on fraud.

Why do they do urine drug tests at all? They're expensive, not as accurate as other tests, and impossible for people with shy bladder syndrome or other conditions. To answer your question, it's because urine doesn't contain DNA and because they watch people pee, so they usually know whose it is when they see it leave their body.

DNA tests, unlike drug tests, are complicated and VERY expensive. That's why they don't do them routinely.

They are WAY too expensive. That's why they do urine tests instead of other tests, like spinal taps.
