If someone swears while complimenting you, does that diminish the value of the compliment or enforce it?

I was just wondering this because a friend told me I am: "*****ng drop dead gorgeous" (which I'm not, they were just complimenting me)

so yeah, that got me to wondering, so if people could help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it.

It's all in the tone of voice. If it was said really sarcastically then yes, it would diminish the value of the compliment but usually in the right tone adding a little emphasis like a swear only enforces the compliment.

My boyfriend will sometimes throw a swear in his compliments to me and I take it that he's trying to express just how much he means what he's saying.

No it doesnt lessen the complement. There are some people that just talk like that and curse all the time. Its a complement and using a swear might even increase the meaning. Thats whay I do. If i just want to be nice I say "you look great" if i really mean it i'll say "you look f*cking amazing!" Be happy
