Is moving in together a good idea? We DON'T want to get married.

Raising children is easier with a two parent family unit. And two can live cheaper together if they are careful. Sounds like you two are seriously committed, at least to raise a family. Set some rules before you move in, so there are no misunderstandings. You might make up a little "contract", so to speak. Who does what? How the money will be spent. Recommend a his, yours, and ours checking. Money is the root of a evil... break ups. Also, discuss outside relationships. This area of potential misunderstandings can cause it to not work. Also, if relatives are near by, discuss this. Common understandings of space and time are needed.

well it's probably best if you do live together, especially with twin girls. Get an APT for now and save up some cash to buy a home later, don't rush into getting a house to fast, just live together for a while in an APT and see if it really works out with you two. When you live with someone you really see everything about them, you get to know who they really are, and all their little imperfections.

I am really puzzled by your question. You both want a family, but do not want to provide the children with a family atmosphere. Why create a family if you do not plan to live as a family?
