In the words of good george carlin: "Religion has convinced people that there's an invisible man...living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you. He loves you and he needs money..." Why would you believe in that, while you can wonder about the wonders of life, of nature, of mother earth and not having to pay a dime for it ? The sun raises free, rain falls free and for everyone, no matter what invisible man you believe in...

I enjoy Carlin's philosophy, he clearly has come to a decision which has made him happy and rich. As for why, maybe to the billions who believe in a deity it comforts them knowing there is a possiblity that those who live a humble life, those who don't lie cheat and steal to better their lives over their fellow man will be rewarded in the after-life and those who do will be punished. Now I can't say anything bad about an idea which promotes long-term goals, good-will towards man and the simple idea that doing the right thing is justifyable in the end. So go ahead and laugh at Carlin, but realize the invisible man in the sky and him are promoting the same philosophy.

first of all i want to correct u that "that is not a man"
we the muslims belive that ALLAH is not a man like us.He is a glow ,a light or a power.can u answer me if a small thing like a needle or bulb can't b manufactured by its own so how can b all this big big world created by its own? so make sure that thier is somebody who is the creater of all this world and who owns us also.HE IS NOT INVISIBLE ,i can feel him every where if u realy want a proof ,send me ur id i will give u the visible god's pics.as a guardian he knows well wat is good 4 us and wat is bad(since he has created the world and every creater know about his creation very well and its drawbacks and good things also) so he just guided us to do the best through QURAN and HADIS but doesnot force us and have given us the choice also(BECOZ HE REALY LOVES US MORE THAN 75% THAN A MOTHER'S LOVE).the sun etc all follows his directions thus they donot do thier acts as free.HE DOES NOT NEED MONEY BECOZ HE IS NOT A HUMANBEING AND MONEY IS A THING that matters FOR HUMANS.now its upon u to belive or not .i suggest atleast have a belief on GOD.

Because the idea of a giant, invisible man in the sky keeping watch over them is a lot less scary than the idea of a vast, open and entirely empty sky.

George Carlin. Smart man. I love how he puts this into perspective. I am sure a lot of people will find it offensive but I couldn't agree more!

That is not true, God made us, He loves us, but all He wants us to do is to follow His 10 commandments, then He will leave us in a place for all eternity and just relax. But if we don't follow then He will put us in a place and burn, for all eternity. And you are going to burn unless you change your ways.

"they say that they had little faith or they didnt supply funds to the church thats why there prayers did no longer get responded" i do no longer comprehend everybody who says this. We pray to God with the aid of fact like chatting with human beings, chatting with God establishes our relationship with Him. And prayer isn't purely making needs like he's a genie.

Because their parents told them it was true when they're young and they have a large support system of people that believe the same thing.

That invisible man will never spank them or tell them they are bad, unlike the real man who raised them.
