Olives r one of my fav foods. Luv them w/ Canadian bacon, black olive & onion pizza. In salads, subs and especially in my mexican food! Gosh the ones from europe r so good. Greeks & Italians have such variety of flavors... Yum, yum!

at Christmas time,(the only time you can find them here) I treat myself to this 1/2 gallon jar of mixed olives .they are awesome they are green ,pink, black and purple. some are big and some are small and half the fun is removing the stones (pits).also at Christmas we have to have at least 1 can per person of black olives.
I use green olives mostly as an ingredient in cold salads like macaroni or potato,I cant imagine a bologna sandwich without them.black olives go with anything cold or hot ,
this is one of my favorite ways to eat black olives.
black olive tappenade
2 cans black olives drained
4 cloves garlic crushed minced small
salt/ pepper add to taste
lemon juice or vinegar add to taste
1-2 anchovies smashed (optional)
olive oil
I chop my olives very fine instead of mashing or pureeing them (for texture reasons)
then add the other ingrediants /mix well
this is good as is or sometimes I make a layerd dip using alternating layers of hummus,tappenade and pesto.
serve with crostini or crusty bread .mmmmmmmmmm awesome!

eewww, no! Don't mind just a couple thin slices of black olive on pizza, but that's IT! My cat loves them, they make her crazy - especially Greek olives!

Green and black olives are great in a salad, as well as in spaghetti sauce.

To me they don't really taste like anything. Just a little salt. But I don't mind the black ones on pizza...
