in my humble opinion ther are really only two types of people, those who belive and those who do not,let me finish befor you get on your rant!OK those fence straddlers, those who want proof but really hope deep down inside that there is a god, so that when they die their not just worm food. They fall in the beliving group cause they hold out hope for a god, the beliver.Loves God etc......then the athiest, smug assured that there is no sky God yet if you ask them a simple question like where did all this come from? And with a stern brow and unwaivering certainty. They reply random chance,as for the beliver we"ll setting aside personal experience, is it really so bad that a group of people want to belive in this absoloute being of love? Who knows, so here we are both groups at each others throats desperate to be right .Hey no one likes to be wrong, after all we are only human, so my question is this , if you were crossing a field and seen a lion, would you trust that God would keep the

To your first question - I agree that we are divided into the two groups, the believers and the nonbelievers.

To your second question - If I was crossing a field and I saw I lion I would not trust God to keep the lion from killing me. I am a Christian and admit that I would be praying, running and looking for a tree to climb all at the same time! God gave me a brain and legs and he expects me to use them to get away from danger. No way would I stick my head in the lion's mouth. That sounds like those folks who handle poisonous snakes to test their faith in God.

Just because a person has faith in God that does not take away their common sense. Don't put yourself in danger to test God and see if he will save you.

A large percentage of me would go around the field, while a small percentage would be foolhardy and run straight through, just like particles in the universe. Patterns of movement create larger patterns and so on to complex chaos systems that one could say are random chance but in reality have unknowable levels of order. Are the particles conscious? Perhaps, either in the spiritual way or the AI way, who knows? When you place "fence sitters" in the "believer" group, this is your interpretation. You have every right to hold that interpretation, but others might dispute the idea that there is even a fence to sit upon. Perhaps once you have enough iterations of activity, what looks like a fence materializes and some of the "intelligent" particles may sit upon it. It is only part of everything made into a structure that you interpret as a fence. I am not particularly trying to make sense; after all, if you have faith, you probably also have a measure of poetic sensibility. I do not care if I am wrong, because I am very adaptable and try not to cling to the egoistic idea that "I" must be right. And now, it's time to feed my dogs and forget about philosophy. Thanks and cheers!

EDIT: I wasn't going for "defensive" but more for "speculative" . Sorry this phenomenon depresses you, but Yahoo! Answers is rife with it. Good to see someone using good bait this morning...

I have NEVER said the world was created by "random chance!" That is the Christian misunderstanding of science. Evolution is not random chance. Read a biology book.

As for the lion bit, I don't waste time with hypothetical situations. If a lion was running after me, I will die because I can't out run a lion.

The sky has no limits. The development has no limits. The development that takes place in such a fashion that you must trust in God. Why the baby born in the womb of only woman why not in the womb of buffalo. Who develops such type of symmetrical identity of man?
In case of lion meeting, the lion will not harm you till you fear from it. The trust towards God will encourage the inner dare and the spirit within you and the lion will not harm you.
The trust towards God will never harm you or any demerit will you observe if it will not turn in orthodox trust.
The trust towards God will neutralize your earthy tension in to peaceful thinking
Believe in God and relax

Some Christians would stick their head in the lion's mouth to prove there IS a God. But not me. I would run like crazy. I am a Christian but I like what the Prophet Mo (pbuh) said: First tie up you camel, then put your trust in God.

You've got it ALL wrong missy.
There are those who believe, who will stick there head down the lion's mouth believing god will pull them out, and then there are the atheists who are smart enough not to get near the lion because they know no one will pull them out.

Get your facts straight!

If I were crossing a field and saw a lion, I wouldn't wait for god to keep me safe nor would I stick my head in it's mouth. I would trust myself to get the hell away from it!

I'm agnostic and while if there is a heaven cool. I do not spend my time hoping for there to be a god. I just see not factual or rational reason to think one exists. I find it hard to understand why so many are sure he exists with absolutely no rational reason. If he does exist though he's got some explaining to do or he can kiss my a$$.

Sorry but you are being really steriotypical. You are describing Atheists how we would describe you. Can i make the guess that you are an American Christian who has not yet been introduced to a Atheist in real life? It is not as simple as that.
