People can be constricted into their own purgatory living with depression.

Sometimes the consequences of our own actions, or the infliction of others.

Life hits bumps.

The larger the obstacle, the greater invitation to recreate and change. However, this does not erase the pain of the present hour.

no... the term itself is not even mentioned in the Bible... purgatory was invented due to wrong interpretation of scriptures.. the "purging" of our sins and works will be tried with fire will happen in the Future, during the end times (judgment) when God will try our works by fire, not the person is tried by fire. (I Cor 3:13 - 15)

Ecclesiastes 9:4-5 says that for the living, there is still hope. but for the dead, they will never have anymore reward.

regarding Paul's prayers on his epistles, He's praying for those people who have the same hope as he had... these people are alive.. Surely Paul have known this part of the Scriptures (Ecclesiastes). As it is said also that Onesiphorus oft refreshed him and not ashamed of his chain (He was imprisoned and Onesiphorus visits) 1 Tim. 1:16. book of Maccabees contradict the statement of the bible. Deuterocanonicals were added only later and it doesn't harmonize with the 66 books of the Bible. The one quoted (2 Macc 12:44-45) does not harmonize with what the Bible said.

I wouldn't call it purgatory. I was raised catholic but no longer practice. I was taught the term purgatory was a place souls went to pray for forgiveness before entering heaven. I don't believe there is such a place. Life is here to learn and experience things. There is no better way to learn than to experience. Knowledge is power and the best way to learn is to walk in the shoes.

more like elementary school. Life seems to me like a learning institution (earth kind of like a mental institution, haha). And the material world has several grades, maybe similar to elementary school. When we graduate we move on to subtler digs in heaven where we have spiritual bodies (subtle) rather than gross material ones. That would be like high school and we would be there for as long as it took to graduate to even more exalted domains such as the causal plane where we would be much closer to the creator and help the astral beings graduate.

Nobody does.

The only people who even believed it existed were the Catholics, and the Pope recently declared it not to..... so there goes that realm.
