England in the Industrial Revolution: they came to the U.S. colonies. Will they become overcrowded once again? I don't think so..social and economic pressures lead to low birthrate and they are actually bringing in immigrants rather than worrying about overcrowding. China: this has already happened, many people starved when they could not grow enough food. The one child policy helped ensure that would not happen again..now less strict on policy, the birthrate is still low. These aren't the countries we have to worry about..places in the developing world where birthrates are very high (as is the death rate..). These places may not seem "crowded" but if you can not grow the food and support the population it is over populated. China may be much more "crowded" but they provide jobs and food for their population so it is not over populated.

England is already over crowded in the south east and London area but the government still won't diverse, the Heathrow extension the new Wembley will only add to the problem, the London area is rapidly over heating, in the USA many government facilities are in various parts of the country so the employment is better shared, the UK government should stop and think for a little while, all our eggs are in the one basket.

Most of the world is currently overpopulated, by a standard of the amount of human life the planet will be able to viably sustain over the long term. With current population growth rates we'll soon be up to our necks in Human beings and all of their bi-products.

I believe that we're in a position right now where we decide to limit our numbers or nature will do that for us. I think the first is the preferable solution, but as a race we don't have a great track record for that sort of forward thinking.

I think I might go back to NZ.

China got too crowded. So they decided to export a few million to UK and splatter a few others around the world, there upon they bread like the good little people they are and the silly host countries let them in to stay.

Result an overpopulated world.

I think NZ are more sensible than that and I still have citizenship - tara suckers!

If England ever becomes overcrowded, it will be because of some kind of invasion. Between the abortion plague and declining birthrates, England, and most of Western Europe are doomed as demographic groups. The birthrate does not keep up with the deathrate at all.

We adapt - the real question is what happens when the world can't produce enough food to feed them - there's always space to live but will there be productive space to grow food - 1st worlders need 2 to 4 acres of agricultral land per person.

And goodness knows how many barrels of oil - it takes 6 to rear a cow. What happens when it runs out ?

China already has recognized, for some time, that they already are overcrowded. Their response has been to pass laws restricting people having children. Details:

It's not a great solution. It could be called authoritarian. They also recognize that. But when people's behavior is that detrimental to the country, the government has to step in.

China has 4 times the population that we have and only a slightly larger land area so I don't know how to classify it

china will never be overpopulated, even though they have 1.3 billion people they can still fit all thier people in just one district(i.e.xingjiang), with the law of one child per family, the chinese population will level off in 2015.

However, England is up Sh*t Creek without a padle i'm afraid

Both already are, thats why we cant afford housing in our own country.

Theres always Canada, Australia or even Russia to go to if we ever have enough here.

They have so much land you could easily lose the UK in them
