My cat does sit on my face at night, and it wakes me up because I can't breath. I would not let my cat with a baby because she could sit on the baby's face as well with horrible consequences.
My cats always run in the stairs when I am going up and down: they can make people fall....
so 2 ways a cat could kill someone: sit in the face of people and they don't wake up or can't move (newborns)
cats make you fall in the stairs and you die because of a bad fall.
yes! also diseases spread by cats for people with AIDS (toxoplasmosis)
that's all I can think of.
EDIT: BTW people who say it's old tales thing don't know that newborns can't move if a 15lb cat sit on their face. It happened before. and newborns are people. It's rare but it happens. and I won't let my cat be in the same room with a sleeping paralized person or a sleeping newborn.

The suggestion of an obedience class is an excellent one. Read here https://tr.im/qadDG
It will help your dog learn to behave around other dogs, and help keep your training moving forward as you'll want to be prepared for the next class. Also, a good instructor can be a wonderful resource, someone to help you with any questions or concerns about your dog. Leash training can take a LOT of time and patience, depending upon the dog. I'm not sure what you mean by 'horrible on a leash' but my basic suggestion is that you take a lot of yummy treats with you on walks. When your dog behaves well on the leash (not pulling) praise her and give her treats. Change direction a lot so that she learns to pay attention to YOU and where you are going. It's also helpful to teach a "Watch Me" command such that whenever your dog looks at you you praise her and give her a treat. About chewing, yes a Kong is a great chew toy. Some dogs also like Nylabone brand bones. I suggest also teaching a "Leave It" command. You use this when she shows interest in chewing on something she shouldn't. Then immediately give her something she is allowed to chew, such as the Kong stuffed with somethig yummy. This same command will be helpful on walks when she wants to sniff or eat something she shouldn't. Again, when she does leave the item alone, be sure to give lots of praise. I would look into an obedience class right away. I think that you'll find that a good obedience class can help enormously! Good luck and enjoy your new dog.

I would not have a cat in the same room as a sleeping baby. Only because I think they would find the warmth of the sleeping area a good place to be and may lie on the babys face.

On a baby's face, yes. it happened to my mom's neighbour back in the 1960's - She'd put the baby outside in the pram, under the (open) kitchen window so she could her it if the baby cried. She went out to bring the baby in for her lunch, and the cat was sitting on her face and had smothered her. My mom moved not long after - the mother was in a mental institution for a good while after

No. And anyway the people would have to be drugged. A normal person will wake up if he can't breath. Plus the cat may only cuddle up on you becuse of love and affection, the only way cats use to attack is their claws and teeth.

Ranks along with cats'stealing babies breath'. Probably stems from the fact that cats like comfortable places to sleep. None of mine ever tried to sleep on my face, however!

I have two. One's geriatric... but tries hard! The other one's younger, behaves like a dog, and has a following of younger cats behind her. Always a house full! Yeah, they definately 'kill' me! Love 'em!
