In a person who is already very ill(cancer) wouldnt repeatedly severely low electrolytes suggest renal failure

If she cannot maintain a good level for any length of time while off of IV fluids?

We're waiting for more word from the doctors.

She's stage four cancer, basically "take her home and let her die".

It might, then again it may suggest other things too. Without even knowing what type of cancer, what stage, how advanced and a few hundred other things it's impossible to say. Talk to the doctors!
