For me, the day I believe it started to get out of hand, was a couple months after 9/11 when Burger King was to told to take down their sign that said something to the effect of "God Bless the U.S." because it offended people. It was Okay for a couple of months to be up their because people wanted hope...but then all the Political correctness people came out again and attacked!

I agree with everyone who said the day it started. At first I could see the reason behind some of it, but now everything offends someone. I can honesty say, nothing comes out of my mouth with the intent to offend ANY person. I can't keep up with what is/isn't right thing to say anymore.

It crept up on us but I feel that it was 30-40 years ago and still getting worse.
I agree with many of the principles but, as you imply, its application has become very silly on many occasions,
The subject is worthy of a full debate which is difficult to do/ possibly not encouraged by the YA system.
Perhaps we should ask for this facility (many participants controlled by a "chair " nominated by YA or voted upon?
What od you think (open question which I will try to remember to repeat tomorrow!)

Poltical correctness got out of hand when a person's opinion -- an opinion based on personal interactions, observations, life lessons, and not directed at an entire group of people -- made a peron a racist.

Because that is just another area on which the government can control us. I am not pregudice or racist nor do I stereo type however if I get to know you and dont like you I should be allowed that.

In America it all started at the end of the 60's. It is a byproduct of the minority movement.
