John 13:34
Jesus gives us a new commandment....Love
This commandment makes all the other laws obsolete , If you show love in all you do you don't need the old laws.

Act in love and you will fulfill the law (Old Testament). Also be led by the Spirit and bear the fruit of the Spirit in all you do and you will not be under the law:

Rom 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor, therefore love is the fulfillment of the law

Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word. Even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Gal 5:22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Little heads up for the born again idiots...

Jesus strongly approved of the law and the prophets. He hadn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)

Because Jesus being crucified took away the need for the animal sacrifice. One thing Jesus made clear was that those who did follow the old law did it out of ritual and not the love of their heart. It was a form, not personal.

The thing about not eating pork...God made it clear to Peter (I believe) that he was not to call anything common or unclean that God had created.

Those in the new testament who were responsibile for Jesus death, used the law as an anchor around the necks of the people and God never intended when he brought Jesus here for the guidelines by which to live to be harsh, but rather simple and full of love.

Denying oneself of being like the world may seem hard because you have to make yourself humble and modest. The only reason it is hard, is because the devil wants us to disobey God, be like everyone else and ease that feeling of being different. Our human nature is one of the worst enemies we have. God's true believers fight that battle every day. But when you have love toward God and His will, that battle becomes easier over time.

In short, Jesus coming to this earth, took away the need for rituals and replaced it with love.

He also taught how he wanted his ministry to go, two by two, leaving all behind and going to spread the gospel. BTW..that does not refer to the live style of the J.W.'s. They do not follow all of Jesus' teachings. But there is a faith out there that does. If you are truly interested in finding it, pray that God will direct you to his people.

whichever laws fall under what Jesus taught to follow. that cancels some out. for example:

"you are to observe the sabbath and it is to be a lasting covenant for you" -- OT commandment. logically,
a) the sabbath is of the old covenant rather than the new
b) being old covenant, "you" means "Jews"
c) lasting does not mean e'erlasting or even 'ongoing'

"sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath" -- Jesus' teaching. the sabbath was designed by God so people wouldn't be loafers or workaholics. you'll notice there were multiple sabbaths. sabbath days, sabbath years, years of jubilee... the death toll was an insentive not to be lazy or overworked, which are harmful to you.

so basically if Jesus said follow it or it is stated that it is part of the old covenant, it's part of the old not the new. covenant of blood, or covenant of Blood. I prefer the latter.

They don't.

They violate the 2nd commandment by worshipping the cross on a regular basis.

Christians only really pay attention to the New Testament.
Then again, in some respects that is probably for the best as the Old Testament god was a really nasty guy.

[Edit]: Did Primoa just claim that God's Law is Death? .... Blimey. Never thought I'd see the day when that happened. ^_^

You people just can't get your "minds" around this, can you? Let me leave you with this thought: God did NOT give the laws of the OT to be obeyed. Now go and figure out why this is, and you will have the answer to your "question" that's been asked and answered in here about 588, 598, 309 times already.

If there is a contradiction between what the Old Testament and the New Testament teaches the latter teaching prevails. Example: food laws, divorce, vengeance, etc.

Peace and blessings!

We cannot even follow the 10 commandments. Human nature is to greedy. Don't celebrate to loudly, you couldn't either.

This comes into focus, Love the Lord thy God. Love your neighbor also, even Atheist.

Now then, some people just don't want to feel the love.

God does not require anyone to stay in an abusive situation.

How is that for balance?

One of the causes in division in Christianity is the term 'old testament' (O.T.).The unscriptural definition; O.T. is Genesis-Malachi. The scriptural O.T. is the law of Moses (Synonym; 2 Cor. 3:13-14 KJV).
Can one have the law of Moses before Moses was born (Exodus 2)?
Start to understand the 'inconsistency'?
