I am a hedgewitch and my prayers are usually thanks for everything that I have been given - enough food, a warm safe home, my family and cats, the beautiful world beyond my door. Sometimes I do rituals for the protection of others. I ask for nothing much. I like to keep my life simple. If someone asked me for prayers I would do a candle ritual for that person with the prayer that it should harm none. If I have a problem I would meditate and spend time with my God/dess. It gives me peace and often an answer.

Your attitude on prayer is admirable.
I don't pray at all because I feel that it's an empty act... I'm atheist... To what would I be praying? LOL
I do, however, spend time in a medative way to sort through the same kind of issues you concentrate on; I sort out the answers of "how I can" ... like, How can I be more effective at doing the things I need to do and how can I improve upon myself to aquire better skills for being a better human.
I guess that's just about the same kind of activity as your prayer habits, eh? Anyhow... It works for me.
Good question.

I don't do anything which I call prayer. If I did anything, it would be a spell, which I suppose is similar to what you mean. I do not try to get Mother Nature to set aside her rules, but rather to get her help within her rules.
But I have one specific comment regarding your reference to money. It is fine that you make the distinction between earning money and "getting" it, but many people do not understand that there is such a thing as creating wealth. You buy raw materials and make something, you sell it for far more than the raw materials alone were worth. That is called "value added" by the economists, and is a valid way to MAKE money. When someone else buys it, they pay what they consider a fair price for something they want. If they pay more than a fair price, it indicates they want it very much, or they are very foolish.
But to say that the money comes from someone else is not necessarily bad. For example, if I gain wealth at the expense of someone who has defrauded innocent people, is that wrong? If I win a prize for writing the best essay, it means others did not win. But they don't lose any money. And the person who put up the money for the prize gains the essay to publish, the publicity that went with the contest, and whatever it was he wanted for setting up the contest. Acts of charity are the same thing: you gain because others willingly give up some of their wealth.

I am an Agnostic. I believe in a very mysterious supreme being that no one on earth knows anything about. So I don't pray at all. I just try to be a good citizen, help my fellow man and observe the law.

I blank my mind of the things of the physical world and let it go to the void.... I separate myself from the thoughts of the conscious mind and become as the dead.... a shell in stasis.
Some others pray this way.
Buddhists and Hindus know it as meditation.
The Nihil is Universal...
Do I expect anyone to respond to it? No.
Do I expect my fate to change by it? No.
Do I expect it to release me of troubles and trivial concerns about a worthless world? Yes indeed.

I pray according to my understanding of what God's will is for things on this earth. Check out yesterday's Enduring Truth broadcast where my Pastor talks about exalting the name of God when you pray.

Pray without ceasing = Pray without law.
For law is notably the ministration of death.
Which (law/grace) things are an "allegory".
The GRACE of our Lord JC with you all. Amen.

I pray to the Father, in the Name of Jesus. I pray His will. This is stated in the Bible. I start by forgiving those who have sinned against me, I give thanks, and pray for others, such as our leaders, those with needs, and then for myself. I pray for situations, such as the trapped coal miners, and all involved.
I use the Bible as the guide on how to pray.

I always pray very carefully.
You must pray carefully, lest you be given what you need, instead of whaty you want.
