Here's food for thought. Since it's a bit too long to post here (but not really long) go to this website, read through to the end, then come back here and post a reply.

There is a difference between a non-believer who mocks God and a non-believer who is respectful and tolerant toward religion/spirituality. These are cases of people openly mocking God.

So the idea is that "god'' is an angry god and if you piss him off he will kill your a$$...right? How is this "god" worth worshiping?
There are a lot of us nonbelievers out here alive and well.

So in the 2 thousand years (nearly) of Christianity, there are only these examples of people blaspheming against God and dying of unnatural causes? I guess you're also suggesting that the man who shot Lennon was an angel of God as well, since he was doing God's work?

I am a christian but I do believe that the bible is not a word of God. In the bible we are told that God has no name, form and abode and that He is omnipresent. But God is not omnipresent and He has a form and abode. So, how could He have inspired the writing of the gospels only to hide His true identity and confuse His children that He is indeed everywhere-animals, trees, mountains and human beings?
Because God is a Father and if indeed He is omnipresent, then it means the concept of brotherhood no longer exits and that it has given way to the concept of Fatherhood. This is a serious mistake which means that we all are fathers the same as God. And since we are all fathers whose duty it is to give inheritance and to whom?
Note that it is the duty of a father to give inheritance to his chilldren but we are all Gods and Fathers then the concept of omnipresence has to be looked at once again.
Again, if God is omnipresent then from where does He come to purify the world and more importantly it does not make sense we should cry out to Him or even build temples, churches and mosques in His name?
So against this background, one can confidently say that the scriptures were not inspired by God because it is full of inaccuracies and inconsistencies. But more importantly, if it is really true that God inspired the writings of the religious books then for me the inspirations should have been focused on the founders themselves because of their holiness and heroic roles in the world drama cycle.
Besides, it is not true that there is no other name that is given so much authority as the name of Jesus who died and rose again on the third day? What is the purpose for one to die and rise up again? I had wished Jesus didn't die and remained immortal so that he could say he had conqured death. The truth is that it is only God who is above birth and death but all His creation are subject to birth and death due to reincarnation.
God is a Spirit who has nothing to do with birth, sorrow and death and for anyone to go through this process cannot be called God. So, do not be deceived into thinking that anybody at logger heads with God is destined to die. Death is the direct result of our sinful ways and has nothing to do with God. If you sow evil you will reap evil. This means that for every action that we perform we receive the fruit of it so if you want good fruits then you had better performed good actions.
Destruction of the world is just ahead and with it all the bodily religions which will come back again in their own good time. So ,John Lennon was right when he said christianity will end and disappear and the fact that he was shot is enough testimony that it is not only in Islam that we have extremists but that it also exits in the christian outfit.Perhaps, I also have to say that it is not part of God's job, duty or responsibility to go about sinking Titanic's,ships or boats and that He has better things to do than to cheapen Himself with petty things.
God is a God of Peace and Happiness and not of sorrow , pain and discomfort. Certainly, He does not go about punishing people who disagree with Him. We punish ourselves and give sorrow to ourselves through our actions or inactions.Pure and simple!
This world is governed by the philosophy of karma to the extent that whatever action one performs one will get the reward or fruit of it.
Do you also know that whatever happens now, every second that passes, is the drama and it will be repeated once again every 5,000 years? This means that Jesus will come again exactly as he did to establish the christian religion. Do you want to know when?
Since the drama cycle repeats identically every 5,000 years so on account of the fact that Jesus died 2,000 years ago he has to come back at the same place, in the same body and at the same time to play his role as predestined in the drama cycle come the next 3,000 years.
This is the history and geography of the world that is known to a handful out of hundreds of thousands of people.

Anybode who knows how to use a search engine can find just as many examples of nonbelievers who lived to a ripe old age.

Or devout Christian children who died, for that matter.

So your god is an evil tyrant, having people killed who speak against him?

Here's a question for you: Does speaking against your god increase one's chances of dying or not?

Anecdotal evidence means nothing, of course - why don't you already know that?

Yes, in fact I posted most of that on an answer to someone yesterday, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlPYXqWzAIiCmcXpcqoQe.Lty6IX?qid=20070809172638AATAY8b&show=7#profile-info-33bcbefbc63a76a16260f6a1bd4246b1aa and it's not too long.

This should be an awakening. Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death!
It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): “Be not deceived; God is
not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Here are some men and women who mocked God:

JOHN LENNON: Some years before, during his interview with an American
Magazine, he said: “Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not
have to argue about that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects
were too simple, today we are more famous than Him” (1966). Lennon,
after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot
six times.

TANCREDO NEVES (President of Brazil): During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency. Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.

CAZUZA (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet): During a show in Canecï¯ ( Rio de Janeiro ), whilst smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: “God, that’s for you.” He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner.

THE MAN WHO BUILT THE TITANIC: After the construction of the Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he
said: “Not even God can sink it” The result: I think you all know whathappened to the Titanic.

MARILYN MONROE: She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: “I don’t need your Jesus”. A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.

BON SCOTT: The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: “Don’t stop me, I’m going down all the way, down the highway to hell”. On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.

CAMPINAS/SP IN 2005: In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter - >holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: “MY DAUGHTER, GO WITH GOD AND MAY HE PROTECT YOU.” She responded: “ONLY IF HE (GOD) TRAVELS IN THE TRUNK, CAUSE INSIDE HERE IT’S ALREADY FULL”. Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk
was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained
intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none were
broken.

Christine Hewitt: A Jamaican Journalist and entertainer, said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written, in June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle.

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive.
JESUS!!!

P.S: If it was a joke, you would have sent it to everyone. So are you going to have courage to send this? I have done my part, Jesus said in Mark 8:38
“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be
ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26).

AMEN

I know that some of those people mentioned in the article are already dead but am not aware that it is linked into their own way of expressing blasphemy. Well, even they are not with us anymore lets not say anything that could hurt their loved ones.

Your "facts" look very much like delusions and fantasies. Though I did like John Lennon's idea of a certain well-known religion disappearing forever.
