I am going to get on of those really cool antiquey bath/shower mixer taps and was wondering what colour schemes to go for. I thought of getting gold ones of these as they are nice and warm. Do you think plae pink/cream tiles and paint? Gimme your ides too please. Its a small bathroom with a big window, quite light and i have a white suite and black slate effect floor. Have a budget of £400 £500 to include taps/tiles/paint/blind. My dad will be doing the tiling so dont have to pay for that at least!!

Thanks xx

I would think about going with a chrome or brushed pewter finish for your taps. The gold might be a bit much for the look. Victorian colors WERE usually on the darker/richer side but since you have a big window and lots of light...I'd like the pink and cream too. What about a few accents with a really dark shade of green to balance the light colors and keep the Victorian feel? Perhaps dark hand towels...if you sew at all, get a bit of cream lace and sew onto the ends of your handtowels. Victoriana is all about accessories and decorative items. Find old calendars or magazines, tear out some pictures you like and put into secondhand frames and group those on a wall. I would definitely use white tiles no matter your color choice since they are the most expensive part of the decor. With white, you can always change your paint color for not much money without the tiles having to be replaced.

Victorian colours were dark. Greens and browns, sometimes darker cream, crean and green go very well together.
