My first suggestion is to take the Lexapro in the mornings.
If you've taken it before, you'll know that your body will adjust within a week or so and you'll be back on a normal sleep cycle.

In the meantime, consider calling into work. No sleep for 24 hours due to medicinal adjustment seems like a legitimate reason to call in sick.
Then go to bed! You'll feel better when you wake up!

Lexapro Sleep

I agree that you should call in sick today for medical reasons. You need to sort out your psychological state before concentrating on work. The Lexapro will help you tremendously, but it sounds like you are yo-yoing on and off the medication, which is not a good idea. Insomnia is a fairly normal side-effect of Lexapro. I am taking 20 mg per day and experienced insomnia for the first week or so, but then my sleep cycle returned to normal. Try to regulate your sleeping pattern by going to bed at 10 pm and waking up at 6 am; although your brain may not follow this pattern to begin with, eventually it will get the idea. I would also strongly recommend that you take L-Tyrosine (500 mg twice a day) as a supplement to the Lexapro. This is a natural stimulant that will counteract the fatigue effects during the day. You can buy this online or at any good health food store. Good luck, and get some rest!

Lexapro is not a drug you can stop and start without having some nasty side effects (serotonin discontinuation syndrome) with nausea, dizziness, confusion headache and other things. It is nasty to suddenly stop. 10mg is the basic starter dose and is therapeutic for most people. It does not cure your depression or anxiety - it only makes the symptoms less so as soon as you stop taking it they get worse. Research shows that if you take it for at least 18 months then you are less likely to have a recurrence of depression/anxiety.
These type of antidepressants do tend to make you feel zoned out and sleepy but also have the side effect of making it hard to sleep, to stay asleep and have good quality sleep.

I agree with the others - take the day off work - call in NOW - let yourself fall asleep if you can. Go see your doctor and discuss your treatment. I have to take sleeping tablets while using lexapro as I cant sleep.

Give yourself a break - you need to let the Lexapro start working and get over those initial side effects before you can function normally again.

Goodluck and sleeeeeeeeep

If you're tired, call in sick. If you can't call in sick, drink some coffee and go on about your day, sleep when you get home from work, but you probably won't feel like it then eh? Heh. I went through this with Prozac and it didn't go away the entire 6 months I was on it I only slept for 6 to 12 hours once every 2 to 3 days. You simply get used to the new sleep cycle, it's hard when you need to function though.

See your doctor when you can and try to get something to help with the sleeping thing. If your doctor is anything like mine was, you'll just be given a larger dosage of your first antidepressant and another antidepressant that has a sleepy side effect like trazodone or remeron, neither which actually put anyone to sleep!!!!!

I agree with "the only", it may be harsh, but this woman is on a downward spiral. She'll take anyone and everyone with her. She does'nt give a hoot about anyone but herself. I would put my foot down, make some ultimatums. And, stick to them. She is so used to him "covering for her" that she has no care for how this affects her family. Plus those little kids don't need to see that. Sounds like rehab didn't work, I say boot her out. Make her responsible for her alcoholism. It will wake her up, or bring about the "bottom" she hasn't reached. 2 dui's and no jail? Maybe thats where she should go. She isn't done, I guarantee it. Good luck.
