Maldives at present do not have any Resorts affordable for Backpackers.
How ever you are always welcome to Maldives ( if you are a Tourist ) you will get a 30 days Visa on Arrival.
But sometimes immigration will ask which Resort or Hotel you are going.You will be allowed to book a hotel on arrival at Tourism Counter.
Or I advise you to just book one night Male City Hotel.
Then you just ask on arrival in the hotel or Just make some friends in Maldives or get a Travel Guide on arrival from the Tourism Ministry Counter on Arrival...
Its very easy to be in Maldives ...very small and easy islands and Friendly People
