personally, and im saying this because i have 5 tattoos, the touch ups do hurt worse, because no matter how long its been your nerve endings are shot (moms a nurse) so they're more prone to sensitivity, time wise it takes less to about the same time due to the fact that the pattern IS already there, and the aftercare is the same.

Aftercare will be the same it always is but as far as time and pain it will be different. I have a total of 11 tattoos so I think I would know what to expect. The pain will be more intense because the artist will have to go over the old tattoo numerous times to cover it and the time to heal will be a little shorter by about 1 day or 2 because the area was already tattooed. Good luck and don't get anything you will regret again because I've never heard of covering up a cover up LOL.

It depends on how much touching up is needed.
Usually when you get a tattoo there might be a few small spots in the tattoo that didn't hold the ink as well as the rest of it, and then those small spots just need to be redone, so time in the chair is a lot shorter.
If it's a complete redo then yes your amount of time in the chair will probably talk as long if not longer then the original tattoo.
In regards to pain and after care, yes it's going to be just the same as the first time.

No it is not the same cause this time the tattoo artist is trying to get ink to stay in your skin by going through scar tissue. Remember when you first got the tattoo and it scabbed over? Well thats cause your skin was cut, and the ink was laid thus creating a beautiful colored scar. Now if you have to get it touched up, one of the reasons why I am picky about tattoo shops, then essentially you are going through scar tissue to get the ink to stay. The only thing that is the same will be the after care.

Sure is. When they do a touch-up, all they are doing is going over the tattoo again. So it's still done the exact same way. It more than likely won't take as long as it did originally, but it still will hurt, and you still have to take care of it until it's healed.

if they are basicly doing that tatt over, then yeah its the same for everything, time might be a little shorter because the pattern is already on the skin
