mood swings last from a few minutes to a few hours...in a manic episode, you stay on a 'high' for days at a time. staying up for 4 to 5 days straight, unable to go to sleep but full of energy. investing yourself in a new hobby and letting it take up all of your time.
spending rediculous amounts of money that you just dont have, resulting in putting yourself in debt.... signing up for multiple credit cards and maxing out all of them in a short period of time, without being able to stop yourself.
people going through a manic episode sometimes think of themselves as invincible and better than others around them ... with extremely high self esteem ( but while in a depressive state they would have low self esteem and have feelings of worthlessness).
they seem to put themselves into harms way (driving recklessly, etc ) without thinking of the possible outcomes.

no longer probably, I propose particular the extra effective temper and potential would be advantageous however the fee can negate the reliable. The consistent rigidity and panic assaults with the shortcoming of self- administration, accompanied by using delusions; in actuality make you valueless. some human beings say that bipolar every person is extra resourceful while their manic yet somewhat you're literally too hyper to do something of use. even however while somebody is depressed a manic episode does look something to seem forward to with the aid of fact the sense of dispair and paranoia linked with melancholy in actuality make you sense like something is extra useful.

One of the practical ways to know is if you feel either happier or sadder than you reasonable should be. We all get very excited when we go to a game, and our team wins. If you have a manic episode, you may talk too fast, relate stories of things most of us would say are sad or painful in an excited fashion -you might say it's like a cheerleader telling the audience she just broke her leg by cheering it out. It gives you that, "What's going on here?" feeling. Something is just not quite right.

At it's worst, a manic episode gives the sufferer hallucinations, extremes of fear and paranoia, and more. Nicole Kidman, who played Lois in 3 Superman movies has manic-depression. In an extreme episode, she hid in a neighbor's back yard for 2 days without food or water, fearing someone wanted to kill her. She was found later when she moved to his front bushes to hide from police, who she thought were also going to kill her. Remember, this was an extreme episode, not the usual mood swing.

Firstly, you wouldn't be on the Internet if you were manic. A lot of people have very little memory of their manic states, so the last few days would be a blur. The clincal description says delusions and hallucinations. You would know if you had had these bacuse people would think you're utterly insane and try to have you sectioned.

On the other hand, a hypomanic episode doesn't interfere with your life so much, but you still feel elated, like you're God, etc.

Look at your boyfriend or husband. If there is a big red mark or gash up side his head, or black eye, you have had a mood swing. If your boyfriend or husband doesn't come around for a few days, you have had a manic episode.
