Definitly the .222 or the .223. they are both centerfire rifles and have more velocity and stopping power. Both are great coyote rounds. The .22 hornet is decent, but isnt as good in my opinion. I think you should consider the 22-250 and the .243 too. The 22-250 is just as good, if not, better than the .223, and the .243 can be used for deer if rifles are legal in your state, and is considered the minimal rifle for deer. It is what i use for coyotes with an 80 grain ballistic tip. It normally drops them cold.

222, 223, 22 hornet would all do the job. 17 hmr would be iffy and the 22 mag could do it but you want have to be selective on your shot.

stick with any of the centerfires and you'll do fine.

Definitely throw out the rimfire options and stick with a centerfire round. Rimfire ammo of any kind maxes out at 225 yards for accuracy, but I gurantee 150 yards it has lost a LOT of it's inertia. Personally I use .223, it's cheap and a lot of rifles are chambered in it. .22-250 might be better if all you can manage is center mass. .243 is almost overkill. Most states allow .243 on deer, deer can double or even triple a coyotes weight.

Any of the centerfires will work on coyote at 150 yards. If you are consistantly shooting them at that distance consider a .243 instead. The .22 WMR will work on a well-placed shot but that is stretching it unless you're a good marksman. At that distance you should stick with head-shots unless you opt to use the .243. If coyotes look healthy I generally leave them alone. Of course, I don't have pets or other small animals to worry about.

Best.

out of these i would definetly go .223, myself i got a breach loader thompson in .243 and it'll smoke that wimpy little .223, so get ya a .243, 80 grain boattail accutips and you'll have no problems, taking coyotes or deer out to 300 or 400 yrds , at that range with a .223 you might as well be throwing rocks. good luck to ya.

223 would be the best choice for that. After that I would use the .222 or the .22 Hornet but that ammo is a little expensive unlike .223 ammo which is reasonably cheap. Also You can buy TRACER rounds for your .223 wat is cooler than watching your bullet fly downrange

There all capable of doing the task*.. Shot placement is critical no matter what you choose to hunt*. The Rifle is only going to be as effective as the person doing the shooting*... My personal preference is the Remington 700 BDL bull barreled 22-250 equipped with a 20 power Redfield Target Scope*...

I would pick the 223, but as mentioned above a 243 is a real good choice.
